The West Trapps Glacier approach to the Uberfall is treacherous this year. Reports have several bruised hips and derrieres already this season.

Nice photos folks.

Looking down the Gillam Glacier from under the north-side of Mt. Deborah in 1976. After we decided we were done nearly dying, Chris & I hiked down to the hill at center-left to get line-of-sight to Fairbanks, so we could radio Cliff Hudson to come pick us up. Unfortunately, we neglected to take a rope or harnesses, since we had not noticed any crevasses in our area.

Here's Chris approaching where the Gillam interesects two other valley glaciers. The moraine debris fields combined with huge crevasses, were "very-interesting" to solo across, on our way to the hill at left. The fresh bear tracks in the same area, added some more spice to our adventure.

Fritz on top of a spur peaklit of Deborah, with the west face of Deborah at top left, & the upper Yanert Glacier below.
