Scott Patterson got 11th in the 50K. Pretty sure that’s our best ever in that.
That’s a long damn ways to ski, especially in a little more than 2 hours!

How'd he get from cowering outside that school to the Olympics?

ms55401, so now we are represented by an Austrian body builder?

my take is this: you build a wildly successful Hollywood franchise on a persona of machismo, biceps, pecs and lots of guns killing lots of bad (often foreign-looking) guys, with a liberal (see what I did there?) dosing of really bad puns, puns so bad they wouldn't even make it onto a James Bond script, and then go on to govern the most important (arguably) and most populous (certainly) state in the USA, your American bona fides are utterly unimpeachable.

that said, the America curling gold was fukking awesome. If I were a crier, I would have cried last night.

Well, he's been "me tooed", so I guess that makes him a red blooded American.

Marit Bjørgen, winner of the 30 km in OL 2018:

Marit is the most winning winter Olympics athlete of all time with 8 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronze medals.

Oh oh.
Closing ceremony. The winter gloves add a little something.

Ski wax melted all over him because he’s so HAWT.

since he does summer and winter I guess I only need to wait two years.

Maybe after Hawaii this year we can sail to Tonga instead of Alaska.
We could pick up crew there. Yes. A plan coming together.

The quintessential Canadian choke is to blow curling in a world event.
Most of the other countries have only 1 or 2 good teams and would have a hard time getting out of Southern Alberta.
I curled with Paul Gowsell (in 74) who a few years later had the best team in the World.
We were also probably one of the only teams to sample J Tree type produce while on the ice.

A rational assessment of national performance at the winter Olympics: https://www.citylab.com/life/2018/02/this-was-the-worst-winter-olympics-in-20-years-for-team-usa/554267/?utm_source=atlfb

Well that's just great Anders.

Now to reinflate our National Pride and Ego we're going to have to invade some country and break their things.
