Some cheerleaders giggled then immediately averted their gaze as the impersonator, who later only identified himself as Howard, smiled and waved to crowds who came to watch a unified Korean team play Japan at the Pyeongchang Games.

What is remarkable, is that any countries can end up effectively competing with the US, Russia, China and India. As the largest countries, they have the greatest genetic resources to produce standout athletes. It's understandable that India doesn't, because their society is not geared toward physicality rising to the top. The other three definitely are.

For example, the US has these amazing national training centers. Promising athletes can go there, subsidized, and get top-notch coaching, psychology, nutrition, physical therapy, training, scientific measurement of performance.
