I'm embarrassed to say, but I've injured myself worse opening beer bottles with a carabiner.

It's legit, I'm working on the special effects. For the scenes in the RV we are going to pump body odor into the theater with just the faintest after scent of Old E.

Wow. I'm don't know if I'd say that it's so bad, it's good. But it's bad. I hope any waiver they signed had a clause saying that the movie might be so bad that it would irreparable harm their future acting career.

Synopsis

Gripped is a feature length rock climbing survival epic that takes place on the side of a 1000ft cliff. Set high in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, Gripped follows the story of Rose, a gym climber from Los Angeles who falls for Bret, a rugged outdoorsman who gets the two in over their heads when they embark on the famous rock climbing route called "Killer Pillar”. Bret takes a huge fall and suffers a serious head injury and torn shoulder. With no way to retreat off the cliff, Rose is forced to take the lead and finish the 1000ft of climbing to the summit. However, Rose has very little experience with high alpine traditional climbing and when night falls and they are forced to bivouac on the side of the cliff. After a freezing night on the ledge and a storm approaching, it’s “climb or die” for Rose and its gonna take everything in her power to gain the summit successfully. Only to find that getting down can be more challenging then the climb up.

edit - the cast lists Jacqueline Florine.

A whole movie just to remind us to wear our helmets?

Makes me think of the classic line in the Eiger Sanction (may not be exact wording)
"We will make it"
"I don't think so but we shall continue with style"

What's with the leader fall at 1:28?

The leader falls at the top of a line of bolts, yet only the top bolt is clipped with what looks like a single locking carabiner.

While I am glad to see a movie featuring climbing, it seems pretty ultra-cheesy to my sensibilities.

I also thought it was a parody trying to make fun of climbing films and I thought it was brilliantly funny. But after doing a bit of homework it looks like a real project.

I would love to continue to poke fun at it, but somebody is actually putting a lot of effort into it obviously. I hope its some young film students just learning their craft. So corny and made me laugh out loud a couple times. Especially the dialogue and the canned close ups.

"Its the real deal, its a commitment....a grade V."

"Once you commit.... there's no turning back."

Awesome.

Will there be a scene where she takes a running leap across a big gap and, with a cam in each hand, sticks the wall on the far side? That was pretty exciting in Vertical Limit, so I'm hoping there's something similar here.
