Ed, I’m quite proficient with a compass and sextant, and I know how to write letters in cursive.
Just sayin that medical research is more important to me although I am aware that y’all had a
say in developing MRI’S and CAT scans. The stars are pretty and all but there’s nuthin out
there important to me, unless I need to take a fix on Betelgeuse.

modern magnet technology for MRI's come from accelerator research to build supercolliders...

instrumentation for CAT scans come from nuclear and particle physics

the fundamental physics principles for MRI were the reason I I Rabi won the Nobel Prize in the 1940s

I know you don't care about the basic science... but you are very short sighted if you think all that emerged from the private sector somehow.

Penzias and Wilson won the Nobel Prize for seeing the Cosmic Microwave Background, predicted to exist from the Big Bang. They worked at Bell Labs on satellite communications, their antennas were picking up a background they couldn't identify... they solved the background problem!

And you care (even if you don't know you do)
