seems like an age old question
Baseball Therapy: Is The American League Just Better?

"So, we have pretty good evidence that the American League may have been beating the National League in the most boring way possible: developing better young players and signing bargain free agents."

developing better young players

You mean like teaching them how to meditate before games instead of listening to hip-hop
and learning how to be ‘centered’ at the plate?

Some drunk nutjob threw full cans of beer at Cora and Mookie during the parade yesterday?
So wrong - I woulda thought there was a beer shortage in Beantown.

I'm not questioning the result (there are videos of Eagles players getting clocked as well), I'm just curious about intent.

Bummer about McCovey, but he lived a life, no?

As for those of you who think the junior circuit is so great, how come they don't play real baseball?

McCovey was a warrior. He would have been somewhat adrift in this weak-kneed world, if not constantly fined and suspended.

I’m not sure the reality check of the big money teams dissing him will do anything for his attitude or aversion to ‘hustle’. In too many ways, Machado is a representative of his generation: ‘I deserve everything’.

Buh Bye Machado, Chris Taylor, Dozier, Hernandez, Toles, and the whole pen (minus Baez), unless Jansen goes to Jenny Craig or swears off plantain.
I would keep Taylor, but get rid of Bellanger, The kid shows he chokes in the ws
I would get rid of Puig too.

Correlations for weight, height and two measures of batting performance.

Hamburg L, Hines TM.

Abstract
The hypothesis that heavier baseball players are better batters was examined in two correlational studies of major league baseball players' performance. Neither height nor weight was significantly correlated with batting average. Both variables correlated significantly and positively with the number of home runs hit by American League players in the 1997 season. After partial correlations were computed, only the correlation between weight and number of home runs hit remained significant.

kudos to deGrom for the Cy Young. deGrom is a dazzling pitcher but had the misfortune of having to wear a Mets jersey in 2018. Love watching him work. Brilliant stuff and has that vintage Bob Gibson demeanor

Watching the fantastic Ken Burns Baseball series right now...a wonderful quote from the articulate George Will:

“I grew up in central Illinois midway between Chicago and St. Louis and I made an historic blunder. All my friends became Cardinals fans and grew up happy and liberal and I became a Cubs fan and grew up embittered and conservative.”

Ch-ch-ch-changes.....

Kemp was on the back end, anyway...Puig was good but not consistently so...

In any case, the lineup for the last two years has only got the Dodgers close and not across the finish line due more to luck than outright skill....

It's time to shake things up.
