Did you microwave the rat so it is warmer than ambient room temperature?

EDIT: MICROWAVE IS BAD IDEA...

Just asked my ex who took care of daughter's classroom snakes during summer. The procedure:

1. Thaw out in sun... using microwave results in non-uniform heat and can hurt the snake.

2. Put it in warm water for 10-15 minutes to heat it up.

Problematic, but. They explode. My daughter, speaking from experience...) advised against it. I thaw them in the fishers idle, then on the counter then the plastic bag encased rodent in a dry bag ( you know the one) in a bowl of kettle heated water, changing the water till the Rat seems to be warmer than my body temp..

Looks like this has been thoroughly answered, but I'll just add that when I used to have a lot of snakes the most common problem was ambient temperature in their terrarium. I'd check that first, then look into the other reasons above.

For a larger snake like you have it's not very unusual to go several weeks without eating, every so often.

My 18 foot Burmese only ate a pig every month or two :)

One of my friends had a large collection of pythons including a Burmese. Rick is a very strong guy and used to handle the Burmese by himself.
One day it almost got him so he quit this practise.
He had chickens and fed his snakes live chicks
