What makes alpine especially difficult AND rewarding is dealing with vagaries of mountain weather. Savor these pics and serve up some of your own...

Great shot of Point 5! Did the first American ascent of that in 1971.

Alpine climbing is my religion so I decided to juxtapose this with the current “Religion vs Science” thread. This is a “climbing” forim so I suppose this will sweep “Religion vs. Science” off of the front page...ha, ha, ha.

Winter weekend warrior in Yosemite sometimes gets alpine conditions on the approach, especially if you take Hwy 120

But yeah, Jim and Reilly and Alpinist63's pics are pretty good too.

Jim,

My wife won't even let me hike up a hill, without becoming very agitated.
Just had surgery, and this time around, I'm following doctor's orders. Wished I had snapped a few photo's on top of the Walker Spur, in that raging blizzard, just after a few got zapped by lightning, but I was preoccupied.

So happy to find the crack that I slung a horn too. Then there was a belay crack just past it. First one in 100+ m. Max was happy too.
