I think that it is hilarious how completely enraged posters on Supertopos become when a new bolt is placed on a insignificant route but are completely silent and even supportive of additional bolts being placed on the Nose route and every other Golden age El Cap route.... the hypocrisy is astounding.

Well done Jim. We are all members of the same tribe. We have more in common here than we do with the general publc. Sure, we are going to have differences and discussing them usually leads to to better understanding. To do so collegially benefits everyone.

In other news: Incoming! North Korean ICBM in trajectory towards San Francisco. Film at eleven. Now back to your regularly scheduled fixed hardware argument.

oi vey... i dare say i must be coming down with a case of the vapors...

what happened to a good ole fashioned deleting of a mistaken statement with a simple or not so simple mea culpa?

instead we’ve got “poetry” [and i use that term stretched to the limits of its definition] that has been left to stand [when it could have quite easily been deleted] and then a new thread opener that spends as much time rehashing why the dude was right to both chop and be outraged [by a relative to the world at large meaningless bolt] as it does time spent “apologizing”...

colour me a cynic, but i haven’t seen so much self aggrandizing mileage made of so little since, well, herm, maybe... wos?

can we at least setup a $5 “donation” to ASCA in exchange for a ticket in a raffle to receive the freshly faux gold plated and plaque mounted hanger of our obsession that will now be replete with a brass enscribed tag underneath saying:

“the hanger drawn in the sand, of the year of our lord two thousand and seventeen”

cause methinks i see jesus in this toast and i’d at least like a chance at a momento...

Thanks, Jim.
The words didn't bother me, but apparently they bothered other people, so that's helpful.

I agree the discussion should have been about the circumstances of the bolt, not about past actions of the people involved.
