hey there say, i had a 'movie maker thing' on my computer and it was great
for taking my camera videos and making clips of the yard, dog, and more important: sign language now, as, i try to gain it back...

well, just two days ago, it worked and now it suddenly does not...
any ideas WHAT i can do?

i can't afford a 'buy it' program, and i do not want to risk
any DOWNLOAD that i don't know...

and it seems too complex to try to figure out why...

and, also, sadly, this computer had decided to constantly update again,
and i don't like that, :(

i liked when i could do it a few times a month, (remember? someone helped me with that, before) ...

wow, well, i was hoping to communicate AGAIN, WITH THE
DEAF LANGUAGE and with some of my friends, as, i try to
learn some of the skills i had lost...

thanks for any info, to help...

i do not have modern phone video stuff, either...

:(

thanks guys, :)

I have not been able to make videos since my computer told me that I need a new video card.

Have you gotten any computer-driven messages like that when you have tried accessing your movie maker?

(Of course the answer's gonna be no or you might have mentioned that.)

That's all I can suggest, new video card needed, POSSIBLY.

That's normally 2 cents worth of advice (Black Friday discount applied).

hey there, say, mouse... YES that is what it said...

i did not mentioned it, as, at the time, i was going to sleep, and:
i can't always STATE the messages 'correctly' (unless i re'read them) as,
sometimes i CAN'T remember the 'exact' words, and:

i don't want to 'state' it wrongly... :)

yep--that's it...

also, WILL GO READ the 'next helper reply' here, too...

thanks to both of you...
:)

ps:mouse:
oh, will go see the little video clip, too, :)

I used to use Movie Maker a lot, but no longer have access so I can't check this but it is no longer supported, so it's possible that an update killed it.

If that is the case, it might be possible to do a restore to an earlier date. It's easy and won't hurt anything if it doesn't work.

Good luck.

There are open-source editing programs available. Ostensibly, since the source code is open for all to see, there isn't any malicious code.

There are also free, but limited, versions of big-name editing software that is used for real movies. Ostensibly, because the companies are trying to get you to buy their full-power versions, there isn't any malicious code.

This list of free editors is about the same as Jon Beck's reference above.

hee hee, not only do quilts (our supertopo quilt) KEEP US WARM,
'quilts' also 'teach us' new 'stitching techniques'
in keeping all the 'sections' joined together,
and also,
FEATURE the 'workmanship' of us all,
as we help hold the ol' quilt all together...

ps:
ß Î Ø T Ç H = that is the one that i love, and can use
so easy... :( but it is not working, :(

hey there say, all... oh my, i tried THREE different ones...

all way to hard to use...

tried for all night, and nothing will cut, and splice, etc,
or, work without great confusion...

:(

oh my... well, thanks anyway, i got to go to sleep, :O

each one, did 'uninstall' good though...

can someone help me find SYSTEM RESTORE AGAIN, :(
I NEVER can find it, :(

though, just a bit ago, somehow by accident, i DID find it, and
it fixed my broswer...

thank you... got to go to sleep now, though..

edit:
i found it... did system restore, and got the movie
maker (the one i had, first, to work) ...

but i think i DO need to update the 'drives'??
but i DO NOT KNOW how to do that...

night now...
i just didn't want to give up so quick, after trying all night...

hey there say, all...

wow! say, finally ONE OF THE links that you shared, DID help!!
one of the LAST ones i tried...

the avidemux... wow, you KNOW-- i SHOULD have tired them
in:

ALPHABETICAL order, man oh man, :)

well, also, the systemes restore got the window live movie maker to work, but then, everyday or two?, the it seemed the computer update, and AGAIN:
THE WINDOWS one did not work :O

so now, i got that stopped and it has been working for a few days now...

and, then, i HAVE THIS ONE, that seems to work just as well,
but, i am not sure how to 'add' to a piece of the
video strip...

hope i can figure it out...
so finally, i can:

share sign language, for learning, and for my friend, and:

i can share my 'goofy pup dog and the yard'

thank you all so very very much for the TIME that you took to STOP BY, here...

happy good eve, (i may check back to the taco, later, not sure) ...
i have so MANY OL' IRONS in the ol' fire (so to speak) ...

or, uh, SO TO DO... :O :)

thanks again guys, you are the 'best' :)

Windows did it to me a few years ago when I tried to open Visual Basic 6, having used the program for several years. It wasn't there.

I have Windows 7 Pro and my Movie Maker seems to still work. Did this a month or so ago:

hey there say, ... update... the movie maker, is still working, since
i get no more updates for windows, etc...

BUT i do use the avidemux...

trouble is, DOES anyone know more about it...
there are a few options that might help me more????

and, it mentioned a 'plug in' to add SUB-TITLES... ???

HOW ON earth, hee hee, would i do this???

any ideas?

here is a screen shot of some of the stuff...

the MAIN REASON i ask, is that occasionally the
movie maker WILL stall, if i have a lot
of edits-cuts, to do in it...

also, i wish i could make PRINTED words, sub-titles, or,
CAPTIONS (that is what i want) ... onto the video clips...

thank you for any help, once again...

and, what you shared, already, was a tremendous help...

thank you and wow-- happy new year, too... :)

these screen shots are about STUFF that i have no clue
what to do with, or how to use...

so far, i got by, with out using them... but, they may help, right??

hey neebee,

You need to create an SRT file to add subtitles to your video.

This link describes the process to write an .srt file, a format which lists timecode for each individual subtitle:
http://www.3playmedia.com/2017/03/08/create-srt-file/

When you've written and saved the .srt file to a known location, import it to Avidemux like this:
