I was thinking of heading to Clark Canyon over Thanksgiving, but am uncertain of the approach road with the recent snow in the Sierra. Any info on current conditions would be much appreciated!

There is no snow at all in the town of Mammoth Lakes, just the mountain. The road to Clarks should be fine.

Anybody been up there this season? Curious as to the re-growth after a couple of winters (after the fires). Please post up if you've got photos but info would be appreciated. We haven't been there since right after the fires went through.
Thanks.

Theres no good reason to go to CC. it's as hot as the surface of the sun. Dusty too. anchors are in a state of misuse because so many other good sport areas have been developed around no ones gone back to clean them up. Iguess a lot of nubes like area 51? 43? 72? whatever it is. But its broiling in the sun and feral wild dogs roam around barking and lying on ropes. not to mention the kids!! hey uber hippy family! your patigucci clad kid doesn't want to climb. they're not cute. its child abuse.

Well Bitter Old Guy,
We've enjoyed Clark Canyon for many years, for a morning or afternoon of fun sport climbing. Whatever...we climb at the other local crags too.
So...anybody with anything to contribute besides...bitterness?

Yep! I went to Clark Canyon a few years ago with my daughter her husband and their three kids as well as their friends with two kids. We all had a stellar time ..... Everyone climbed. The kids ate snacks and played at the base while we took turns climbing and it was a great day. One I will always remember!!!

I was there in June. There has been a lot of shrub regrowth but most of the trees are gone so there is very little shade. It still looks pretty stark.

To be of some help:
What Phyl said. Stark ash-tray land mostly, but the climbing is still fine. Road is actually BETTER since the FS had to improve it a bit to fight the fires. Thanksgiving will be quite cool, maybe cold but could be great in the sun. Just depends. Oh, the Potato Patch is largely intact--green trees still. Nice on a warm afternoon as all of the climbs get shade. Most of the routes are tougher, overhanging.

What BAD said^^^
Jaded old curmudgeons around here wont have anything good to say. Climbing there is fun IMPO. Loss of the trees/shade is a bummer. The place is an easy-bake on sunny days but the road has improved. .

Thanks all.
I've climbed at Clark for over 20 years. It was a real bummer to see those trees lost.
Sounds like it's not too bad if cool and not windy (ash/dust).
Appreciate the comments.
