All the justification I ever needed was to invoke Walter Bonatti’s seven retreats from the Croz Spur before his eventual triumph, not that I was necessarily retreating from anything as prestigious, mind you.

Mine was 2004. Traumatic shoulder injury repairs and heals better than degenerative. Back to normal one year after surgery. I was religious about my PT, and although it was hard I resisted the temptation to start climbing when it was halfway there.

Onyerleft, yes, I feel your pain. Those damn things hurt. Get the best doc you can, travel if you have to. They're good at this stuff now, my money says you'll be fine.

Oh, if they offer you a nerve block post surgery, say yes please :-)

Edit, I see you say last June. How's it going?

When it was hour twenty of upward movement and there was barely any water left. Partner says, "Man, I am so thirsty I could drink pvssy juice." "Hell, I'd do that anyday," I say. "No, I mean a pint glass." Time to bail.

When, not long after we got out of bed, her ex-boyfriend came knocking at the door and she turned into a block of ice!
We rapped, pulled the ropes, and went back to the spacious and accommodating ledge of friendship.

We knew the party was over, and definitely time to bail, when we ran out of these:
