somehow missed this thread...

plain and simple: i thought it was brilliant.

and that comes from someone who thoroughly expected to be wowed by visuals and underwhelmed by content ala the recent ghost in the shell remake...

while, i was bored for a moment or two early on, in retrospect i don't think that was problematic given the world that was created. i'd even argue it was necessary in order to convey the numbingly near future but yet mundanely possible nature of the conceptual hypothetical...

only criticism i agree with, is jared leto. and i don't necessarily mean his character. i mean the casting of jared leto. as an actor he brings an overwrought quality to everything i've seen him touch. [as always, im-eversosingular-o].

other than that i completely disagree that the movie gave no answers.

it may not have spelled them out in worded fashion, but aesthetically and artistically, to me, it screamed them.

and to those wondering whether or not to spend the money watching in the theatre...

to this point, i have in my life never watched a movie twice on the big screen.

i still haven't... but i suspect that streak is going to be broken very shortly.

Too much emphasis on the overall atmospherics, too little on characters you want to connect with, and lose the sound track. I give it a C+.
