So if your taste runs toward TRs of picnics in beautiful places, it may be that I will oblige!
One of our latest tricks, is to share those picnics with our blowup doll, Molly. It's quite a threesome!
Lisa does the paddling, I organize the hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and the unsinkable Molly Brown provides untold hours of bouncy pleasure!
Last three photos by Rachel Ames.
She's got quite an eye, and sports a stunning collection of local Colorado images:

Hey Pagan Monkey!
Remember tooling around Indian Creek in your new rig with Nature, searching the airstrip, sneaking sips of whiskey and stretching out in the bright sunshine?
That was a good day.

This is now the official, sloppy drunk
mkay, slightly buzzed, TBuster Rocky Mountain Picnic Thread.
So, our comic book heroine, The Bunny, and her trusty-busted sidekick, Tarbousier, made away with the second picnic of the year today.
(first picnic staged at a nice sandstone bench placed at the short loop of the Blue Dot Trail adjacent to Magnolia East, was a dry run, yo)
..........................................................
Golden Gate Canyon State Park, just south of an hour ago:
First things first, a quick introduction to the person that makes it all happen
'Cuz you gotta figure I ain't got much to do with it:
A crag that we saw while hiking along, called Ralston Roost:
Tim Stich and I tagged that mofo some years ago:
http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=906357&msg=912460#msg912460
But about that picnic:
View to Mt. Evans:
Lisa will be running to the top, via the road, in just a couple of weeks:
Primary goal of picnicking ... sheltering from the wind on the lee side, catching a good dose of red wine & sunshine before a veil of clouds closes back in:
We interrupt this broadcast for the wine tasting notes:
Quadrant Wines, Quadrant BDX, Paso Robles
Merlot 34%, Cabernet Sauvignon 26%, Petite Sirah 25%, Petit Verdot 15%
Alcohol 12.8% by volume
On the nose: boysenberry, flint, noticeable acidity...guessed syrah and zinandel as the informing grapes.
Color in the glass: ruby and purple at edge.
In mouth: full bodied, Merlot comes thru with roundness and bell pepper.
Good backbone to the blend delivered by the Cabernet. Wish I had bought more! Paid about seven or eight dollars a bottle.
Impressions, which Lisa dictated into her phone for me after we sought shelter in the car:
This is how I want my life to be: toasted 57-year-old body, 12 & half-year-old consciousness, hiding from the cold on a beautiful spring day in a secluded CO state park, recalling the tasting notes for the terrific red wine Lisa and I just shared on our picnic. (Essentially a Paso Robles version of a right bank Bordeaux). All the while sheltering from the 40° weather under the sanctuary of the car heater, and listening to the soothing refuge of jazz by Wessel Anderson.
Back into the Bimmer for a quick tour of Panorama Point:
Climbed this via the obvious central chimney with Kevin Rose, yeah, about 12 years ago:
http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=258768&msg=258835#msg258835
And this one, with Tim Stich, in 2010, via the slender buttress on the left side:
http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=1210492&msg=1216308#msg1216308
And a future target, visible from the Panorama Point porch, some
prime local Colorado choss, probably gonna wander up that shite with partners Stich, Nature, Nick Danger, or some combination ... or all three simultaneously!
Bon Appetit!

There ain't nothin' as good on the taco as a Tarbuster TR. Doesn't matter if it's a horribly hard objective from the past or a pleasant day out with some good vino, it's all in the style.
Nice to see you back on here livening it up...

Always good to hear from you Dave!
Check it out, a report for you on a mutual friend of ours, or more specifically, her daughter.
Helga's daughter, Claire, ripping it up in Indian Creek just last month:
If everything goes according to plan, Claire will be at CU Boulder in the fall.
Watch this space for evidence of some real climbing action from the next generation!

Obviously I'm not alone in thinking that whether you're posting a climb down Memory Lane or a hike up to present day, it's all good...and definitely worthy fodder for your admirers to graze upon.
(Besides, I can now steal your wine kinda-sewers description of that bottle you're guzzlin' and make all the Yelpers think I know something about smashed grapes. Lol!)

Recidivism:
: a tendency to relapse into a previous condition or mode of behavior
Golden Gate Park, Panorama Point, Coyote Trail:
2018-4-28 wine notes
Goose Ridge Vineyards , G3, Columbia Valley red wine blend, 2014
14.4%
G3: three generations of winemakers.
Ruby red color.
BlackBerry, plum, black currant, tar, spice, vanilla (from the oak)
Informing grapes best guess: Cab, Merlot, Syrah?
On the palate: presents like an Italian wine. Brisk acidity, well extracted fruit, long finish.
In Washington state grapes mature at cooler temperatures, gaining acidity as opposed to sugar, thus the European continental style.

At least Roy was smart enough to use a rope for his intended. Mine almost called it off when
I refused to get it out of my pack to cross an iced over slab while descending a Cascades peak.
Hey, it wasnt that bad, there were nubbins poking through the ice!

I was waiting for, "still young".?
Maybe not. Some makers are doing it different there so you don't have to wait for 20 years to get that edge a little smoother. What about this one?

Very much so, Wayno.
This was not a case of infanticide!
Definitely ready to drink, and the tannin levels didn't create the sensation of a World War II era half-track careening over the surface of our tongues and likewise accosting the palate. I've made that mistake with Barolo!
The bottle was given to us by a client of Lisa's who will be presenting a vintage sports car at Pebble Beach when it comes around again.
