I too offer my sincerest condolences and respect to Inge's family and friends.
Fritz said if for me.
I will only add that I hope in some small way our thoughts and prayers reach out and help surround her family with love.
Though many of us did not know Inge we all share a bit of her magic and know the feeling of being free and fully happy while in the mountains.

Thanks for posting this WyoRockMan. Awesome young woman. This whole thing is so upsetting.
At a time when so many of us feel the world is falling apart we need all the hope and inspiration we can find from our friends and peers, especially the young ones. The world feels much emptier now without Inge and Hayden.

this has suck'r punched the lot of us.
A tragedy,So young Too young
Beyond Shakespearean, a loss of the magnitude at a time of such world turmoil, it rises to the scale. . .
It is an un-imaginable sadness,
- an enveloping cloud of misery -
that has cloaked the tribe.
there are no words . . .

I didn't post to the thread about Hayden yesterday, because it all seemed too heartbreaking. I'm still heartbroken today, and I only met him one time briefly in El Cap Meadows. His stoke and friendliness were readily apparent. It seems as if he was following in the path of his father, especially in terms of his writing.
As a math teacher and climber I am saddened by the loss of Inge's potential that she surely would have shared with the world. I never met her, but she was obviously destined to do great things.
Two young folks that were inspirational because of the integrity that they lived by, in a world that sometimes seems so lacking in integrity. My thoughts are with the families of these two extraordinary human beings.

So very very sad. My deepest condolences to Inge's family and friends.
I knew her from xc skiing. Full of life's energy. RIP
Brutal cycles we go thru as adventurists. I've lived in the area many years...many 'avy' tales
The map foldline east of Imp peak I had my own worst, closest call. Recent Gallatin Avalanche report is done by "Alex and Doug" how does that not conjure another memory?
Last week I listened to The Alpinist podcast of Dave Roberts reading his recent essay and found it very interesting, highly recommended. Poignant and helpful.

Sounded like she was a very accomplished beautiful person. My thoughts go out to family and friends. This whole thing has had me in a fog for a couple of days even though I did not know either. I have spent s lot of time thinking about my own kids and climbing mountains. Not sure I would change anything but may try look at objective danger a little more seriously.

Lived well, passed early. NUTS!
Note to self. Let the snow consolodate a few weeks before skiing back country.
Somewhere in the distance, another new baby girl is born. She will live the same type of life but without the abrupt end.

My heart aches for Inge's loved ones, family and friends. Having lost a husband I loved, I know loss. I am sending prayers to the heavenlies for you. If you ever want to talk about loss you can email me thru supertopo.
Fresh grief is hard to grasp. Then each day makes it more real. Talking to the people here on the SuperTopo Campfire saved my life. They were my heart and mind therapists. As you wake up each day reach out to others...and as you do, remember to live one day at a time and deal with the pain of that day day only. Hugs and Love from Lynne Leichtfuss.

From the same website that Bad Climber posted a link to, this is an interview of Inge done by her friend and occasional climbing partner, Kelsey, spotlighting female athletes.
It's an amazing interview...and some of the most profoundly beautiful photos of her were taken by Hayden.

Never having met her, I don't feel the deep sense of grief that her friends and family do, and I can only imagine how that must feel. But looking from the outside, her life, although it was short, there was a richness, a fullness, a completeness about it which really struck me. She packed an immense amount of accomplishment and sincere aspirations into a very short period of time. An old, and spiritually mature soul indeed.

While I did not know her, she sounded like an amazing woman who far superseded her athletic prowess with her kindness, empathy, and intelligence. A terrible tragedy on all sides....so sad they did not get to grow old together. My heart bleeds for both their families......

There is never enough emphasis on EDUCATION and DESCISION making in avalanche awareness/classes. THE #1 tool is your BRAIN. To much talk about shovels, beacons and probes. If you are using those tools then you made a big mistake already.
Make good choices in the beginning and proper travel in snow country is the key.
