I'm suspicious. The request came off of Facebook. Went to toss $100 in there via direct CC payment and it came back, "thank you for your $115 donation". I was like "wut"??? So reduced it so that $100 came out of my pocket and it said thank you for your $87 donation.

I was now double "wut?" Is this a scam? Ammon has $187 at this point. Or maybe it's some dude in Pakistan.

I have NO IDEA if this is a legitimate site for Ammon.

What I do see are fees being charged.

"we care" says they charge 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction. So if someone donated 100 dollars then it should be that the person gets 100 - (2.90 + .30 ) = 96.80

Since yours shows he gets $87 with a 100 dollar donation, then there must be another fee, probably from whatever pay site you used such as paypal. ( but I do not know this for certain, just educated guess )

As for when you tried to donate 100 dollars and it showed your cost as 115. They were saying you wanted the person to receive 100 dollars and the 15 dollars was the fees that make it so that they actually get 100 dollars. Again.. we care's 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction plus whatever pay site you used fees adding up to 15 dollars.

Thats my guess.. take it with a grain of salt

The Youcaring fundraiser on the post just above is legit.

If you have ever been inspired by any of Ammon's bold and groundbreaking climbs, jumps or just feel compassion for someone going through an exceptionally challenging period, please consider donating.

When you donate with youcaring.com, when you enter a donation amount (say, $100), it automatically adds a donation to youcaring.com of $15. That appears in fine print above the big "DONATE NOW" button. You can change the amount donated to youcaring.com by clicking there. It takes a few steps to get down to $0.

Kind of a shady business practice. But you can indeed contribute to Ammon without paying those large extra amounts if you want.
