I spoke to the Apple tech reps this morning and it looks like I didn’t have the higher up iCloud savings plan. So recently I was working on movies which takes up a lot of data room and the cloud saved my movie items but since the computer was now above the storage capacity, the cloud dumped my data files and photos considering them old to automatically save the new files I had in the computer. My older Apple computer was not so iCloud active as the new Apple computer appears to be. I now purchased Apples highest plan so this won’t happen again and I can see whats being saved overall which is nice to see. I am still old school so for sure I am using external backups as a secondary way of retrieving lost data. Just now my backups are not going to be stored at the same address as my computer is. Live and learn! Starting over is always a new adventure and I am excited to rebuild!

Sorry to hear all of this Marty. I sure wouldn't put your faith in the "new" cloud. Or Cloud anything. I lost a complete archive once and that was enough for me. Poof! Now I bury it all behind in the woods in a shoe box :)

Keep hard copies and put them in a safe deposit box? I dunno.
