Sunday, Oct.1st at the Ouray Rotary Park will be a kickoff party for the newly formed Ouray Climbers Alliance (OCA) Come and eat yummy pulled pork sanwiches, ogle the great gear for the raffle and silent auction and test your mettle on one of the climbs a half rope length away.
Festivities begin at 3:00 pm and conclude with a slide show I will present at 7:00 pm....Latok 1, the Holy Grail of Alpinism.
A great opportunity to meet new climbers in Ouray County and learn about OCA. Climbers speaking as one voice can have a huge impact....become a part of that voice!

Yep....Ouray/Ridgway is pretty okay. Exceptional ice climbing, mountain hiking and backcountry skiing and pretty damn good sport climbing AND all in shouting distance of the Black Canyon and Indian Creek.

Rock and Ice reported that Ouray/Ridgway had the highest per capita number of climbers in the country. The Ouray Climbers Alliance (OCA) is coming into being to give those climbers a unified voice. If you happen to be in the area Oct. 1st. put Rocktoberfest on your calendar!

Do you recall what that number was? Just curious...
