Want to rent either a whole house/cabin, or apartment, for the months of September and October, possibly November.
Must have at least a small kitchen and sleep 3-4 max but a small 1-bedroom cottage/cabin would work.
In Bridgeport, CA to Lee Vining, CA or anywhere in-between/nearby. Off the grid OK (Virginia Lakes cabin, anyone please?)
Please email me and tell me what you have, will pay up to $2500/month, let's talk! Can place a security deposit etc.
(Also might be able to negotiate partial use Mon-Fri with cleaners and the place free on weekends in case you'd like to stay there and this is your second home... or do short term rental during weekends, etc!)
Email peter@valchev.net
PS. Is Reno craigslist the best for the area? Any other bulletins/boards where we can post this? Please forward/send this to anyone you know that might be able to help...

You could stay at the El Capitan Casino and be like Howard Hughes with that kind of money. Check it out: http://www.northernstarcasinos.com/el-capitan-lodge-casino/
They have a ham steak breakfast that comes on two plates to contain it, coupons for free golf, prime rib and a lively clientele. Last time I was there ( a while back now) we got a dinner coupon, 3.99 ham steak, rooms, and golf with a cart... for get this........ $15.00 a night!! Golf course had a 1/4lb hot dog and a bourbon and 7 for a buck ninety nine. It is heaven on earth at the El Capitan.

If you have Facebook, search for the group Buy, Sell, or Trade in Mammoth or Bishop NEW. It is pretty much Craigslist for the Eastside.

Mtbphoto thanks, will try posting there, appreciate the beta.
Scuffy, that's absolutely incredible memory you have. Hi from both of us, and hope you are doing well, sending you lots of warm thoughts! :)
As to "why" that location - proximity to a small construction project in the area, and want to keep commute time reasonable. It's been incredibly difficult/impossible to find anything, so I would love any leads... even with the price I posted, there is zero I can find! And hotels are even more expensive, with little availability... difficult to say the least
Hawthorne is hilarious, if you bring up Hawthorne you might as well talk Tonopah... of course doesn't me any good for this request :)

There's no way you can compare Tonopah to Hawthorne. Hawthorne's in a much nicer location, and it has The Captain on KQMC. What's Tonopah got? The creepy Clown Motel?
Next month we're driving up to Lake Tahoe. Will we be checking out the El Capitan? You bet your sweet bippy.

I won a hundred bucks at a nickel slot machine once at the El Capitan. You can too.

Maybe a crazy idea, but you could possibly rent a motorhome or trailer local to where you live from a private owner theu craigs list, and park it at the RV place I always stay at in Lee Vining. Mono Vista RV. I'm here now, in fact. It's about $35 a night for a full hookup space, but that is for right now, high season.
My 28 foot RV sleeps 4 -6 and has a full kitchen, heat, AC etc.
Maybe even talk to the local rv dealers and see if they would lease you a used RV for 2-3 months? If they knew you were not going to be putting thousands of miles on it, maybe they would do it.
At any rate, good luck!

@phylp - yes, have considered this - the RV park doesn't have a single spot open for September/October. A few days here and there, yes... but not for weeks at a time.
Re: that vrbo - I've spoken to the owner, also fully booked through October.
Ditto for other ones I've seen on vrbo/airbnb.
I'm really hoping to find someone with a second home/cabin that's open to making some extra money and not using their place... I've exhausted all the usual methods. Harder than I ever could have imagined!!!
Thanks though, I appreciate the suggestions :-)

Locals dont usually advertise rentals online or in regular media in places like Walker or Coleville. Go to the Log Cabin restaurant/bar in Coleville and ask people there. You are more likely to find rentals on a bulliten board at a gas station or bar than on craigslist. If you want to commando camp, check out Leviathan mine road or Pine creek road. Lotsa pull outs and few people. Lotsa private ranches along 395. Chat with locals and you will find something. Enjoy the beautiful Eastside!
