I'm thinking about a trip to the Kings Canyon/Sequoia area, wondering how badly the wildfires have fouled the air there. Does anyone know?

It's been varying day to day, but in general it's clear early in the morning and gets hazy in the afternoon. Enough smoke to see but not enough to smell or mess with you.
Noticeably clearer in Sequoia than in Kings now that the Kern area fires have been mostly taken care of.
Look at the webcams for Hume Lake, Buck Rock and Milk Ranch Peak to get an overview on any given day. Sorry, to much work to post the links when I'm using a phone.
Long story short, it's good to go

There is a small fire burning across from Bubbs Creek wall (close to Charlotte Dome), making the valley a little more Smokey, but nothing that would keep you from climbing.

They were doing prescribed burns when I was there two weeks ago. That might be part of the same gig. The valley was hazy enough from smoke to dx my photo plans, other than close ups of the raging river. No problem for climbing though, aside from the filtered views.

Prescribed burns in July? Are they insane?
(although I don't doubt it).
They should be doing this on a massive scale in Nov, Dec, with impending rainstorms/snowstorms.
But it's too late now, for much preventive burning.
