Crikey! Haven't been to my photobucket account for a couple of years - what a complete spam cesspool it has begun whomever bought it has essentially destroyed its utility and run it into the sleaziest dirt imaginable. Am out of there entirely.

Perhaps Cmac should contact Photobucket's "leaders" and see if there could be a way for the links we generated for the last seventeen years here to remain working for a consideration of some sort, viz. money. Supertopo really needs to have this functionality, to say the least. And I don't see a zillion $200-$300/yr memberships arising from PB's new tactic and what has to be called a maneuver.

In other words, Photobucket's recent move is really appalling and could well mean the whole PB service is headed toward its end soon. I think they really believed they could make it on advertising but have now faced the music begging and coercing a bail out. I don't see this working at all for them. And now most of us are mad at them too...

Or, pay for something like Chrome's extension written and put in place for the entire ST site's history, grabbing and converting all the image files for another service.

Screw photobucket, they are big-time evil. That should be emphasized on every posting on this forum (expletives excluded for now).

But Cmac, can you please have your webmaster allow us to edit our older postings. All too many of mine (greater than around 1 month?,wtf?) don't have the edit option even when I'm logged-in.

Thanks,
Darwin

Yes, it's quite the ridiculous bait and switch from the company known as Photobucket.
A fully functioning account which used to cost $20 per year, now costs nearly $400 per year.

And the upload and general site functionality is now Horrible, with a capital H, (and used to be fairly rock solid).

But enough about that ...

... For those of you with IT skills:

Question:

I am currently using an extension for my Chrome browser [photobucket embed fix], which allows me to view threads with all of the photobucket content intact. I see photographs instead of a box requesting an account upgrade. NICE!

Problem:

When I save the threads to my hard drive, as a Chrome HTML document [webpage complete], the embed fix doesn't work, so instead of the restored pictures, when I look at the saved document, I once again see Photobucket's block outs with the upgrade request, instead of the restored pictures.

I also have a browser extension which allows me to save directly to PDF [pdfcrowd.com], and it won't save the page with the benefit of the Photobucket Embed Fix either.

Anyone got any ideas?

Okay Ding,

That workaround is a cinch for threads I want to bring up in Chrome browser!
Converts into a PDF and retains the Photobucket embed fix.

So I'm off to the races for threads I want to pull up and save to PDF, going forward. Photos intact!

Question, please:

I have well over 100 threads which were saved using Explorer, probably version 7.0, in 2015, on my PC. [MHTML documents].
(If I pull those up in their current form in Chrome, they will likely be missing various photos for reasons other than the current Photobucket jam up).

How do I convert those to PDF, from Explorer, without acquiring (renting), the full Adobe suite? ...(I only have Adobe Reader).

Explorer doesn't present quite the same print>save as PDF workaround opportunity, as does Chrome.
Or does it, through some other route?

Anybody here using the photobucket embed fix?

I've got the current issue, from October 16, as a browser extension for Chrome, but it ain't working:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fix-embedded-photobucket/cdngpnpgjighldbibdgpddaieidknhlf

The original version worked for a while. And yes, I've been clearing my browser cache/history before using it.
I noticed a few days ago that peoples posts with links to photobucket would show up for about a second, then were quickly replaced by the third party hosting jive.
