Are you ready for a great fall season in the Cochise Stronghold?😎👊
Head on down to Dragoon Brewing Co. on July 14th at 6pm to celebrate the arrival and completion of the Cochise Stronghold: East Side guidebook. Finally everything you need to fully enjoy what the Stronghold has to offer.
There will be a slideshow to showcase some of the classic climbs and orient you to where all the newly released climbs are and how to best plan a weekend out there based on your climbing preference.
From Entrance Dome to Polychrome Dome, with the Rockfellow Group sandwiched in between... including the Lost Canyon. Where is Lost Canyon? These never before published routes will satisfy every climber.
Each book purchase comes with a complimentary beer. My choice is always the "Stronghold Session" Ale and Luke’s Pizza Food Truck will be on site
Do you already have the West Side book? Get your free slipcover to house your "Complete Cochise Stronghold" set at the party or pick up your books to fill it.
A portion of the evening's beer sales is being donated to the Benson Volunteer Fire Department for their incredible service in the Lizard Fire in the Dragoons. Come support the team that worked under the hot June sun to contain the wildfire in our beloved area.

Wish I could make the release party! They look like pretty awesome guides, Tanya. Thanks for putting in all that work!
I ordered them both a couple days ago, and am looking forward to getting out to Cochise when the weather cools down.

Thanks for your support! I had no idea what I was taking on trying to write a comprehensive guide to a backcountry area that had no previous guide. Exploring every nook and cranny, doing the multipitch photography, hiking and mapping the trails, and hours crunching it all in a computer was a project of a lifetime.
Someone gave me this feedback: " The photos are informative with route information labelled clearly. There is enough beta but not overly exhaustive. Highly recommend this West Cochise Guide book!"
Exactly what I was going for. There is plenty of adventure in Stronghold. Come find out! http://www.cochiseclimbing.com

No drF,
This was a party to celebrate the Cochise Stronghold and the fact that there is finally a COMPREHENSIVE book so everyone can get the most out of the area. The approach descriptions are finally clear, the old routes in Bob Kerry's book have been explored and the new development has been included. Almost 1000 routes for you to enjoy.
I put on this slideshow party to show people that the Stronghold is not the scary place filled with run-out testpieces they imagine it to be. This is from the history section in my book:
"Just as Fig Fiola predicted when looking out over the walls as he hung there, hand-drilling bolts from within a dark chimney... the Stronghold grew up. This place held and protected the Apache in its folds for many years. Climbers have those same feelings as they wander among the domes. They know they are amidst a coveted place that has historically only allowed passage to a few. Finally, everyone can feel welcome to experience the majesty."
This guidebook was written, designed, published, researched, photographed, and climbed by me and a crew of amazing partners.

Love to get emails like this:
Tanya, thank you so much for the book and the nice note. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's one of the best done climbing guidebooks that we've seen (and I'm a guidebook nut). Can't wait for our Thanksgiving trip! All the best,
radek & Shirley
Hope everyone is enjoying their books! Thanks for the support, T

My friend Jack Tackle bought both guide's. Jack, who has climbed many times at Cochise, was amazed at the wealth of information about climbs he was unaware of. I'll certainly be purchasing the books when I get to Tucson, if not before.
On a related point, I will be presenting a slide show..."Latok 1, the Holy Grail of Alpinism," at the Summit Hut in Tucson the evening of Nov. 15th.

Thanks Jim! There are almost 1000 climbs in the 2 volumes that cover the East and West Side. As you know most of them are multi pitch and most have never been published before.
Sure hope you find something new to try when your down here and looking forward to both your shows in Moab and Tucson. Tried to sign up for your clinic but it must have sold out in like ~5 minutes?

The first day of the season in the Cochise Stronghold went like this for us: There is a slight breeze, temps in the 70s, big puffy clouds drifting across the blue sky, and towering granite domes fill the skyline. I am yelping with joy at the end of each pitch as we cruised up pitch after pitch of intricate slab, plate, and face climbing.
I had bilateral bunion surgery last year and I wanted to try out my new feet on REAL Cochise Slab. Tried Stampede on the Sheepshead and had the most incredible time learning how to climb with big toes that are straight.
To celebrate this day and to encourage all of you to try out the majestic, chartreuse plates, pink granite domes, and amazing climbing the Cochise Stronghold has to offer I am putting the guidebooks on sale through the weekend. Pick some up and plan your winter climbing trip to this incredible destination!http://www.cochiseclimbing.com/store/p14/The_Complete_Cochise_Stronghold_Guidebook_Set.html
