My best friend from childhood owned Lawrence Volvo dealership in W.C...The whole family has at least one or two old school volvo's that they still drive...
My favorite >Volvo station wagon 122 S from the late 60's & 70's.. with a purdy light green color ..I owned one for a short while...

$3K sounds a little steep for a '91. Don't get sentimental. ;-)
Did I mention between my brother and his wife we've owned about a dozen? One of my best
friends in Seattle was the King of Volvos - Oddvar Ogland. He built some stoopidly quick ones.
He had a very successful shop in Ballard and was very well known.
I think the fastest was a '71 145. It was just sick because those early 145's were so light. He
let me have it for a weekend when some Swedish buddies visited. I drove them to Leavenworth.
Just leaving Bothell there was a notorious speed trap. I saw the tool in his usual place so I was
a good boy until I hit the freeway onramp whereupon I lit 'em up. I saw him come after me so
I really got on it. I knew he was too far back to clock me or get a valid radar read so I backed
off and let him pull me over. I got out and watched him eyeball the rig which didn't show much
other than a really big exhaust and lots of rubber.
"You took that curve getting onto the freeway kind of fast, didn't you?"
"Well, officer, I thought I was being quite responsible, actually."
"Well, you take it easy now and have a nice day."
"Thank you, we will."
BwaHaHaHa! Rarely got below 75 the rest of the way to Leavenworth, except wjhen I came
to the known tool hides.
The wife has 175K on her '05 XC70. It's a great rig. A little pricey to keep in tip-top shape as
I'm too lazy to do my own work any more but we figure we only put a thou or so into it per year.
My bro got a Polestar last year and has added about 75 HP by 'chipping' it. That thing scoots
pretty darn gud with 425 ponies! The suspension is really fabulous.

The Volvo station wagon once was academics' choice of a vehicle. Never really understood why.

I bought an 85 240 back in 1990 or thereabouts.
It was a sporty burgundy 2 door that drove really well, but the salt on the roads here wreaked havoc with the brakes etc. Only kept it a few years as there was always something going on it. Still, I've been admiring Volvos ever since and am thinking about a newish V60 wagon.

I had an old wagon, great car. Down side was the electrical. Gave it to my son's mother. She promptly got it impounded in Seligman AZ and walked/hitched to Kingman. I drove out and tried unsuccessfully to get it back.
