Butora is making them. I have not been impressed with Butora shoes or the company behind them. They simply take the flagship models from Five Ten and Sportiva and make their copies of them. Surprisingly this was how it was explained to me by the Butora rep.
I'll pass on BD shoes for now.

It's more who is designing them than who is making them. I have been looking for a good crack climbing shoe ever since Scarpa (foolishly) discontinued the Techno. I'll certainly give them a look.

Ahh yes, Techno's. My favorite face climbing shoes. I guess that makes them versatile...

That being said, I am disappointed that the more "trad" shoe of the bunch BD rolled out doesn't have a mid or high-top to it
Yep, seems like a miss.

I'm not a fan of high topped shoes, they have always felt clunky to me from the Kaukulator to the TC Pro. I'd rather suffer thru the occasional episode of bloody ankle bones.

Hmmm...both the Kauks were and the TC Pros are pretty bomb - delicate ankle syndrome?

I agree on the donini high top comments...Fires were good and maybe even the Mariacher's but once I tried the arc I stayed low. High tops are for half pipes and bowls, 80's AirJordans were unstoppable!!

The original canvas Vandals were pretty bomb too.

proprietary "NeoFriction" rubber.. hmm
I feel like good rubber is half the game and I don't have much faith in newcomers

Newcomers? When it comes to climbing BD has walked their talk. I suspect they know what they're doing.

Hey, Jim, don't go dissin' my kicks! My life would be empty, devoid of meaning without TC Pros. I should add that I'm a big boy--6'4"--with a size 12+ foot, so it's hard to get enough support. I have two pair and resole and rotate as needed. YMMV.

TC Pros are good for about 10 pitches, there like any average shoe after that, not worth the loot.

I am all for a new shoe by an experienced company like BD. Sonmany shoes are from Euro companies who don't understand, and seemingly can't sell, flat lasted, low toe profile trad/crack shoes. Scarpa had a winner in the original Techno but pulled it and their replacement doesn't donit for me.
