Greetings Climbing Community!

The definitive guide to North Tahoe rock climbing is finished and available for pre-order. This comprehensive guidebook covers over 1,400 routes on more than 90 cliffs in the North Lake Tahoe region, including Auburn Quarry, The Emeralds, Bowman Valley, Donner Pass, Cold Stream Canyon, as well as numerous crags along the I-80 Corridor, Truckee River Canyon, and Lake Tahoe's North Shore. This 350 page full-color guide has it all – photo-diagrams of every crag, GPS accurate topographical maps, detailed route info, inspiring action photos, as well as hundreds of never before published routes! Check out the sample excerpts at www.tahoeclimbing.com/excerpts.

Order now. The books arrive at our warehouse in early June and will be immediately mailed to our pre-order customers – just in time for the kick-off of this year's climbing season. While you wait for the book to arrive, visit the North Tahoe guidebook website at www.tahoeclimbing.com for detailed interactive maps, excerpts from the guide, photos and more.

See ya at the crag!

Looks better than that previous travesty of a North Tahoe Guidebook.

When someone goes to the trouble of creating a guidebook, it ought to get more than three posts worth of attention :)

I'll be checking this book out carefully. If it is done well it will fill a deep hole.

Meanwhile, Rockneurotic, are you Josh the author? I'd like to ask about a few particular peeves I've had with prior Tahoe area guidebooks to determine whether your book has addressed them. Would you answer such questions?

Been waiting for this one for a long time. Anyone that knows Josh knows the level of quality of this piece of work will be very high. Not to mention the guy put up a number of the routes in the bowman/emeralds area. This is THE guide to have for North Lake.

Thanks all! I appreciate the kudos and look forward to hearing feedback once you have it in your hands. It is arriving ahead of schedule and is expected to make landfall June 1st. Those who have already ordered, can expect to have it in their hands by the end of that week! The guide will be available in Tahoe area stores about a month or so later (I'm still working out my wholesale distribution plan). Until then, those of you who are waiting to see it before buying, keep a sharp lookout for it at the crag. :)

@mtnyoung. Writing a guidebook that covers both the historic and geographic scope of the Tahoe climbing scene was a real challenge. This guide is built on the work and contributions of previous guidebook authors as well as numerous climbers and area developers. I did my best to sift through all these resources, and to my best understanding, convey them to the reader. To further my goal of providing both detailed and accurate information, I endeavored to climb every pitch in the guide. I nearly did it! It is, however, an inevitable fact that I made errors. When you have a chance to peruse the guide, please make note of any errors or omissions you think pertinent and notify me (there is a contact page on the website). That way I can make the second edition even better!
Cheers,
Josh

Ordered, thanks! I love guidebooks and appreciate all the love and attention it takes to create one (and I know that's an understatement) :)

So stoked for this guidebook. Thanks, Josh! I used some topos you had available last year for Bowman and they were awesome. Super excited.

Got my copy the other day, and I'm now feeling a little frantic for a road trip back down to my old stompin' grounds. Josh has done an AMAZING job with this!!

Been climbing at most of these areas since the early 90's, and this is easily the best guide to North Tahoe. Thank you for putting so much work into accurately describing approaches, crags and routes. Your section on Black wall alone was worth the price.
