I usually don't get too exercised about the daily shocks on the news, but I got sick to my stomach watching the videos of Erdogan's security forces attacking protesters as Erdogan was leaving the Turkish embassy in Washington DC yesterday. This morning, the NY Times reported a video showing Erdogan watching the attack from his car then he and all of the attackers left and flew home.

I am not a fan of Erdogan, but it seems inconceivable to me that a head of state of a NATO ally would sanction attacking citizens of a another country while in that country.

My blood is boiling.

Is news anywhere else, or just in my fake-news bubble?

Looks like you're not the only one.

Investigators were paying particular attention to two members of the Turkish security detail who assaulted American Diplomatic Security officers assigned to protect the visiting delegation.

The men were briefly detained on the scene Tuesday and their guns confiscated. But when it was determined that they held diplomatic status, they were promptly released, according to a congressional aide briefed on the State Department’s investigation. By the time video of what had happened outside the ambassador’s residence shot across the internet Tuesday night, stoking outrage in the United States, the two men were on their way out of the country with Mr. Erdogan and the rest of his entourage.

The two men remain the subject of an active criminal investigation and will not be allowed to re-enter the United States, the aide said.

"we have to defeat Isis" it was a campaign promise. The erosion of our freedoms is merely collateral damage. Turkey bought influence through Flynn, fair and square.

Erdogan is a thug. Thugs are very popular with our Commander in Chief. Unfortunately for human beings everywhere thuggery seems to be a growth industry. Is this the new normal, or just the "normal de jour"? The latter, I hope.

This has to do with trump deciding to arm the Kurdish forces in northern Syria who are battling Isis. Much to turkeys dismay.

This quagmire of supporting various forces in Syria who spend more time fighting each other rather than Isis or the Syrian military has its roots deep in the Obama admin

What's tragic is the plight of the Syrian people caught in the middle of this proxy war

"Defeating isis" is just propaganda. Obama showed little interest and neither has trump. There is too much money to be made off of chaos and death

What's most amazing to me is that those losers in Brussels still want to allow Turkey into the EU. Bureaucrats have no shame.

Pretty outrageous that those thugs seem to have gotten away with this. They should all be arrested and charged.

Erdogan's bodyguards are acting like they think they are in Turkey.

Of course the thugs will claim diplomatic immunity so can't be prosecuted for their despicable acts.

After that impressive show of power, I'm sure Trump will want to personally invite him to visit the White House, just like he did to Duterte.
