I've been creating and illustrating a cook book for climbers, going to print it in June..
but I realized it wouldn't be complete without recommendations for where to eat out for the days you don't feel like cooking.

I know the best place to eat in Italy's Finale Ligure - a tiny osteria with the best three course dinners you've ever eaten.
The place to get pizza in the Verdon (with the crazy Spanish guy at the bend in the road)
The New Paltz Bakery for the Gunks,
Or the free hot chocolate in front of the womens' bathroom at the Ahwahnee in Yosemite.

But what do you think are the best (perhaps hidden?) places to eat?
I'd love to know!

To give you an idea, this is what the book will look like:

Does that book have a list of the people that will be cooking for climbers?

I need to make friends with them. :)

Pinnacles East or West side on the way back to the Bay Area, I stop at Super Taqueria in Hollister or Morgan Hill, respectively.

On Sonora Pass Highway, my house. My wife's an excellent cook (I do not like to cook).

I kinda like the ambience there too.

:) Thanks for the suggestions!
MIguel's seems to pop up often!

@Mungeclimber - You can order your non-climbing (gasp) friends a book and perhaps inspire them ;)

For most of the places I like to climb at my campsite is the best place to eat. But in the lower Kern there's the Kern River Brewing Company. The best ale and a great menu.

Looks like a cool book. How can we get a copy?

I gotta second Locker on Sam's.

I heartily un-recommend the hobo butt-meat gyro in Baker, though I suppose that there is always a second time for anything.

"We didn't come here to eat lunch; we came here to face death!"
T.M. Herbert (when his partner was complaining about the food brought on the climb...)

I like this quote, so in the trip reports I write, I have a fairly strict policy of describing the climbing and not the food.
Although I expect it could be extremely boring to describe what I eat!

When climbing Oak Flats/Queen Creek = Los Hermanos Restaurant & Lounge and also Porters Café (In the lot with "The Worlds Smallest Museum")...

I'll second Los Hermanos. Porters is on Main St., though, and not adjacent to the museum.
