Good call Flip Flop. Haven't thought of Greg Brown for many years. This song was one of my favorites many years ago. Just brings a soothing to the soul doesn't it.

Yes, excellent storytelling is just so much FUN!

The Flames approve of these songs;
and let me say that his voice has a crispy brown tone that suggests vineyards among dry golden hills.

Splendid recommendation, FF.

That guitar style reminds me a bit of Leo Kottke. Nice stuff.

There's a verse in Billy from the Hills that reminds me of Nita

"There's a lantern lit on a Missouri night,
A woman writing poems by a stove.
She knows the fox's whereabouts by knoll, by gulch, by yelp,
As he runs at night through her mother love.
Her memory to me is like watercress from a spring-fed stream,
Fresh and aching as a mockingbird's trill.
She lives in me; I try to look until
I can see for her and her boy, Billy from the hills."

How about these lyrics for a Sierra Climber
"Tumble us like scree...."

"Two Little Feet"

two little feet to get me 'cross the mountain
two little feet to carry me away into the woods
two little feet, big mountain, and a
cloud comin' down cloud comin' down cloud comin' down

I hear the voice of the ancient ones
chanting magic words from a different time
well there is no time there is only this rain
there is no time, that's why I missed my plane

John Muir walked away into the mountains
in his old overcoat a crust of bread in his pocket
we have no knowledge and so we have stuff and
stuff with no knowledge is never enough to get you there
it just won't get you there

a culture exploded into knickknacks and memories
Eagle and Bear trinkets I don't think it's good
old man what am I trying to say it's a
it's a messed up world but I love it anyway

two little feet to get me 'cross the city
my little hand to knock upon your door
my little thing for your little thing
and a big love to lift us up once more to the mountain
lift us up

tumble us like scree let us holler out our freedom like a
like a wolf across a valley like a kid lost in a game
no time no name gonna miss that plane again
and I'm gonna stay here with you baby and kiss you to a good dream
I'm goin' kiss you
kiss you like you like it

I got two little feet to get me across the mountain
two little feet to carry me away into the woods
two little feet big mountain and a
cloud comin' down cloud comin' down cloud comin' down

One of my all time favorite songs. Makes me think of hiking up in the hills by my house at dusk.

Yeah Buddy,
Spring Wind is so pure. My very favorite song.

"Oh you Children go on to sleep now
You know it's getting late.
I know you don't like to miss nothing
Oh, and I know that school ain't that great.
Oh, I will dance with you when you're happy
And I'll hold you when you're sad
I hope you know how glad I am
Just to be your dad"

For 12 years, every time that song came on in the truck(a lot) my dog, Raja, would sing along with the harmonica. God I loved that dog
