Has this newly designed grigri had a gear review on here? It is new to me.
https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/Belay-devices--descenders/GRIGRI-PLUS#.WPimBNIrLct
The new grigri is $150 and comes with 2 setting modes: one for leading and the other for top roping. It looks to handle a wider range of rope diameters.
Exceptional comfort during the descent, thanks to the very controlled progression of the rope feed
And get this: pulling the brake handle too much activates the brake.
Nice features on the new design for learners but version 2 works fine for me.

The jury is still out. There are features but there are also issues.....

Jaybro, can you elaborate on the issues? Very curious as I have yet to get my hands on one yet.

Wore out my Gri gri #1 awhile ago. Gri Gri #2 works fine. Isn't Wild Country coming out with an idiot proof belay device? Of course folks will always find a way to screw up. Cheers

Until you find out you threaded the rope into it backward .... :-)

One of the supposed advantages of the new Wild Country belay device. I am beginning to wonder if the REVO will ever see the light of day though...

That Revo looks like it could be a good replacement for the Silent Partner.

38.92% of the time it will be in TR-mode when people are leading and in lead-mode when people are TRing and the same number of people will be dropped per annum.
