Mighty Hiker usually posts this topic, but seems to be otherwise occupied. So...from the YCA website:

This year’s Facelift will start Tuesday evening, September 26th, with a Reel Rock showing. Sign-in booth for the volunteers will be in front of the Visitor Center and will be open from 8am to 4pm September 27th through October 1st. There will be evening presentations at the Auditorium September 27th, 28th, and 29th. September 30th is an Oktoberfest celebration at the Community Hall in El Portal. Sunday evening October 1st will be a dinner for 400 people and live music until midnight.

My niece is getting married the week before. I will not have the vacation time to attend both. My spot in YP D appears to be up for grabs. Maybe I can make it for Saturday Meatfest...

Fattrad messaged me earlier to confirm he will be at FaceLift. MeatFest will again be held on Saturday evening in Yellow Pine.

More MeatFest info will be available as we get closer to the date. Start prepping your appetite.

Looking forward to another Facelift, and seeing everyone.

If anyone has ideas on improvements to the Facelift, or projects that could be done in 2017, feel free to mention them.

Right now, the Sentinel Beach picnic area entrance gate is closed with no plans to open it any time soon. The whole area looks like a logging camp with downed trees scattered about. Will it be opened for Yellow Pine camping by Sept.? Does Ken Yager know whether it will open this summer or by Facelift?

I did a quick search of the Forum for an Earth Day thread and was surprised not to find one, so I thought I'd post this here since Ken Yager has spoken about expanding Facelift to surrounding communities, far and wide.

This year, Lisa and I celebrated Earthday in Mariposa by joining in with our town’s “Clean Sweep,” trash pick-up efforts. Organizers solicited donations from local businesses, obtained clean-up materials for volunteers, divided the town into reasonable working areas, assigned volunteers to those areas, organized free lunches for all participants, and held a raffle for all of the volunteers to receive the donated prizes. This picture shows the gathering at the end of the event during the lunch and raffle.

Lisa and I spent the morning working the junction of Highways 140 and 49 North where the our office is located in the Mariposa County Visitor Center. After finishing our clean-up chores, we posed with our “collectibles” in front of the Visitors’ Center where Yosemite Close Up Tours' office is located.

The whole experience felt a lot like Facelift, with our town's locals collaborating, similar to, yet different from, the camaraderie that we feel with climbers at Facelift.
