I was at climbers coffee last Sat and two women were walking around the campground with a big dog off leash. I suggested they leash him up and was ignored. A few minutes later they came back, dog still unleashed. One of the volunteers asked them if they could leash the dog. They said "We can" then never did it. Another case of no respect.

I'm not a dog person really, don't care one way or another if there's a dog around, leashed or unleashed or in restricted areas. Not my problem, I won't say anything. I even get some enjoyment out of seeing a really well trained dog that doesn't need to be leased and monitored in order to behave in the outdoors.
But sure as hell pisses me off is when a unleashed, untrained dog is running around barking at me and biting at my heels. Last week in HVCG the owner just sat and watched.

Walking around Intersection Rock one day and a dog jumped up outta the bushes and bit me on the knee.
I kicked it right in the chest.
A guy yelled at me and approached me in a rapid and threatening manner.
I kicked him in the Ding Dong.
I never said anything to the dog, or the human, and just kept walking.
The experience scared me a little, but I kinda enjoyed it.
Sorta like when someone parks in my spot and i have them towed.

I was attacked by the dog, and the human.
I defended myself with a very restrained level of force, which was necessary to achieve safety.

I've been a hounddog since my younger days, and the hell if you'll put a leash on me Locker. an furthermore, wheres your pack, I'll sign my initials and give it a dry one, and see how you like it. Now piss off, and give us peace loving dogs of JT a pass. Its only the bad owners of dogs that make it a problem for everyone.

Good thing for that guy that zip's interaction didn't happen in Florida. You could have filled him with lead and walked away.
I don't really get why people bring their dogs. I know my wife and I did once when we were in the 'dog is our kid' phase and didn't have a good place to board her. She was really mellow and snuggled up to others, but it was still a pain keeping her away from cholla and having to stay close to the road. Now that we have kids, the dog stays home or gets boarded. Pretty simply really.
I don't get people who have aggressive dogs that let them off leash in public. I think the owners deserve a good smack down ala zip.

Great place for a dog. My dog had the time of her life there.
Me, however, I was the one who had to spend the entire weekend at the end of a six-foot leash, within 100' of the road, and had to stay off the trails.

Viciousness in dogs is usually caused by the owners.
A distinction lost on the family whose child got killed by a lovable pittie.
