I've been helping with ASCA fundraisers for a couple decades and recently upped the event frequency to build trails around Tahoe and raise money for Tahoe bolt replacement and avalanche safety. A few folks have asked for advice. So here is my guide below.

But I need your advice to polish it up. Make it more readable.

There's a lot of great advice on the topic already. My niche is raising $5-10K with the least amount of volunteer hours: usually 30 hours. I feel that spending more hours than that often means a small organization is so overloaded they can only do a few events a year. At the 30 hour level, split among 4-6 people, it's not much of strain on anyone. Doing 6-12 events is reasonable, can easily raise 50k+ and, most importantly, bring the community together often.

Any tips on how to make the process even more efficient (20 hours?) is welcome!

I put it in a google doc for easy updates.

You can follow our Tahoe events and fundraising here at Ski Run Presents: We had Tommy Caldwell a few months ago and hope to have Alex Honnold and Emily Harrington in the future.

Good point. Our thought was that people might not want to go to 6-12 fundraisers a year, but they might be interested in 6-12 quality events. Especially if the speakers are the Caldwells and Honnold's of their respective sports. But I agree, it's a fine line.

I used kickstarter to fund a calendar, asked for 10,000 and made 13,000. Social media has a great reach. . .df

I like your write-up, Chris.

I do agree with the sentiment that if the same organization is having "too many" fund-raising events in a year, I get donor burn-out.
For just a straight out donation, once a year is my limit, to each of the non-profits I support.

But an event where you get some entertainment, and there is an admission fee, is a great addition.
$25 seems high to me but if it works...
