Hey, Mr. Russ:

I'm looking around for a good double gear sling (loop on each side, worn like a big wall gear rack thingy) that is easily and quickly adjustable. I'm 6'4"; my wife is 5'3". On multi-pitch trad, it would be really cool to zip! Zip! shorten the loops and hand it over. Ray Olsen (I think) used to make a single gear sling with a tight, sewn on prusik that allowed this kind of adjustment, but I've never seen a double like this. The adjustable slings I see now, in fact, are a serious pain in the ass to adjust, not something you'd want to d*ck with while switching leads mid-climb.

Would you be able to cobble together something like this? What might you charge?

Thanks!

I've made them before... a Ray Olsen rip off. He was the best.

Are you talking one racking loop per side or two?

Why you guys using a double gear sling anyway? Most of them A-Hills routes only have like 5 bolts ;)

Hah! I ALWAYS carry 30 draws on sixty foot routes. Don't you? I'm thinking one loop per side. I done heard 'bout this trad climbin' thing. Thought I'd check it out. I had a FROG sling, which I may, in fact, have purchased from Ray himself back in JT days, but it could have been from Dick if he was hawkin' that gear. I have vague memories of buying some stuff from him back when he'd stroll through Hidden Valley with vast bandoleers of gear. What a sight! I looked for the sling to add a pic to the Ray Olsen thread but couldn't find it. Lost to the mists of time and entropy, which is a biotch, they say.

Edit: Actually, I've always hated a bunch of weight on my harness. Just drives me nuts. Can't have shiz in my pockets, either. I like a more distributed load. Some on the rack, some on the harness, some in the pants. You know how it goes....

Russ, Looking for a custom proj. Sort of like a FISH haul bag but covered wagon style top for by 2015 Colorado. With lots of gear loops.

'Covered wagon style' means Spider wants those puffy blouse shoulders on his shoulder straps.
