uh, no. AL west has been one of the toughest most balanced divisions in baseball for a number of years. This year has been one of the only recent times when one team has run away from the pack. Even this year AL west teams are holding their own as a divison.

games won per division so far in 2017:
NL West - 302
AL East - 290
AL West - 288
NL Central - 277
AL Central - 265
NL East - 261

The trick now with the expanded playoffs is to be the hot team going into the postseason. Houston is trying to rest its horses, and are losing some games as a result. Dodgers are also resting some, but just can't seem to lose. Sort of a dangerous strategy to kick back and then hope you can just turn it on again.

Bridwell must like southern California!

Parker Bridwell, that is.

Did this guy find his game on the plane ride from Baltimore?

I don't see why the pitching starved Orioles gave up on this guy. All they got for him was cash.

That's what Al Arbour told the Islanders back in the '80s. They turned it on anyway.

Here come the Angels!

Mike Trout in the postseason would be good for baseball.

The Dodgers are 8-2 since Kershaw went down. They're not gonna rush him back even though he says he feels fine.

The Washington Capitols are playing well again and are 7-3.
Houston - not so much at 3-7. Not exactly charging to the finish.
Boston looking better. Of course, if they finished third or fourth it would still be good as long as the Yankees were one place lower.

Yeah, it's a lot of fun watching him play. I'm so old now I get half off tickets to Angel games and I've been taking advantage of it.

And when Pujols batting behind him is on his game, look out.

Their regular season game is usually pretty good, but their playoff game is turrible...

If the Dodgers can't win with Kershaw they are indeed in trouble. From threatening the all time win record to a complete collapse...that's baseball.

Hottest team in baseball is Cleveland. T Hocking....the National League is catching up a bit in Inter league play, only down 15 games this year. The National League has been pummeled every year since inter league play began.

Edit: Interleague play started in 1997 but American League dominance began in 2004. In 2006 the American League won 154 games the National League 98.

Watching pitchers swing at a baseball thrown by their peers is as exciting as synchronized swimming.
Interesting stat: winning percentage in Interleague Play since it's inception... Chicago Cubs .460, Angels .577.

Baseball is played with 9 players not 10 as is the case in the AL.
Coaching strategy and decisions are more critical in the NL without the designated weapon.

From Wiki;
"Critics often argue that use of the designated hitter introduces an asymmetry to the game by separating players into classes, creating offensive and defensive specialization more akin to American football. Opponents of the rule believe it effectively separates pitchers, other fielders, and designated hitters into separate roles that never cross, possibly causing issues with promoting 'batting cage' players whose scope of experience is extremely limited. However, when the pitcher bats alongside everyone else, all nine players must take turns at the plate and in the field, and the hybridization of roles requires that everyone knows other roles in addition to their own.
The designated hitter rule also changes managerial strategy in late innings. In the National League, a manager must decide when to let a pitcher bat or remove him, as well as whom to pinch-hit with and where or if that player should take the field afterward. When the decision to remove a pitcher is made, the manager may also elect to double switch, delaying the new pitcher's turn at bat."

I know,
I'm a stubborn old school traditionalist
and a Stoopid American as well. :)

Edit; Hey Fish ya back from Greece yet,
bout time you jump in the fray. ;)
