Man, that's not what we like to hear. Be safe folks, especially AFTER you're off belay, driving and such.

Carlos Pinto, Chilean climber that on his first visit to the valley this past season, sent a number of great climbs, including Astroman, NIAD, Salathe in a day, HDRR in half a day, nothing impressive for current standards, but notable nevertheless...

Died on a climbing accident a couple of weeks ago, back home.

Also Franco Dellatorre, a Swiss explorer and mountaineer, possibly fell on a crevasse, while attempting a crossing of the Northern Patagonian Ice Cap.

RIP bro's

(what a long f*#king year this has been)

Jerry,
Are you referring to the avalanche in Blacksmith Creek near Bridgeport? Sara Johanna Carlsson, a patroller from Mammoth, was killed in that incident. Her two partners, CJ Pearson and Joshua Feinberg (also Mammoth patrollers) survived.

As this year moved along and with each death in this community I knew it was going to be a very sad was going to be a very long and sad list... and the holidays are yet to be over. May those of us left covet each and every day with new awe and wonder... may our fallen rest in peace... as long as we remember them they are never really gone.

Harald Berger, ice mixed and rock climber from Linz, Austria, was killed on the 20th of December when the ice climb he was climbing collapsed.
The 34 year old man is survived by his expecting wife. The climbing community here in the US extends heartfelt condolences to his family and close friends. This is very sad.
In addition to being a three time world ice climbing champion he pulled hard on the stone.

Be strong Hari - you are in our thoughts.
