I think TGT2 has a really good point. If the socket is melting, check it out. And you are right about resistive loads.

getting hot at plug? Rub some GB OX-GARD on the male sliders and you can also very carefully push some down the slits of the female plug but do not form a complete circuit with this green smear as it conducts electricity--you could get shocked or have a mini explosion.

Conductive grease will also reduce some oxidation. DSC-115 from www.dowenterprise.com -- but harder to get.

I have fixed many smoldering hot receptacles with these liquid conductors.

There should be a photo of the heater ac plug and the receptacle he's plugging the heater into.

This will eliminate a lot of speculations and narrow the problem down much quicker and accurate.

Zip ... take the photos with your phone and post them up .....

Werner,

the plug can look some what okay and still have a high enough resistance to both heat the plug and the terminals can appear to have little of a corrosion problem as shown by a photo.

The measurement is ohms -- not photo color. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just take pictures and also know ohms?

LOL ..... you know? I do this stuff for a living.

I just wanted to see the plug and receptacle anyways ....

Now that's funny.

Have had quite a few interesting "dates" in the last couple of years.
Thought about posting a thread entitled, "sex after Cancer", which would be quite informative, but probably get me banned.

I do plan on starting to climb again soon though.
