My wallet was at the bottom of a gear box full of beer cans. They glossed over that fact and let me go. I had done a U turn in a 2 horse town.

Following a truck full of rednecks into town. Going the same speed as them, I got pulled over. What's your hurry. (the town is only 75 yards long)

Got nailed for speeding once. I saw them before they saw me so I slowed down to 55. They ticketed me for going 55 in a 45. BS. But I was going 80+ before they spotted me.

On the other hand. Good cop in Santa Barbara pulls my idiot friend out of the sand. Thank you!.

My car flips a fan belt. So I'm weaving onto the emergency lane. Cop pulls behind and I explain the problem. He then goes to drive off. Wait, are you just going to leave me here. He was. Just give me a ride to the next service station please. So he puts me into the back seat criminal cage and when he lets me out at the service station, people are backing away. Not the end of the story but enough for now.

Pulled over for no reason, well maybe cause it's a 57 Chevy with 4 males going down XXX blvd at 3am. That's not probable cause is it.

Any way what are your cop stories. Please focus on the good cop ones.

I gnew a 'cop' once, who only collected change from parking meters and gave out $2 dollar
Parking tickets, A street ranger. Like Robin Hood, if you wanted to avoid a ticket, you could 'tip' him - the money was used to feed the street people.
Oh, wait - that was me.

Another beatiful day in paridise until i get pulled over going from work to surf and she walks up and says do you know your the wrong color! (Long awkward pause), again she says you know your the wrong color! (Even longer pause), I then reply I know I'm hoale.. she then gets a satisfied look and replies no no your registration sticker is expired. And then says have a nice day cuz and leaves without bringing up the copious amounts of empties scattered throughout and the pungent smell of the kronic in my truck!

I got pulled over by a brand new cop in a one horse town for having no rear view mirrors (I'm sure the overall condition of the beat up old $25 Travelall didn't help). Says the young man with the badge "I don't think you can see behind you with no door mirrors."

"Yes I can, I saw your lights in the rear view mirror on the windshield."

Says nervous young cop "Not through all that mud on the rear glass!"
He then proceeds to test my ability to see through the mud with my rear view mirror by going back behind my truck and holding up any random number of fingers for me to count and inform him of what I see.

"Here comes a ticket" I think desparagingly. I can't see a goddamn thing.

Lo and behold, his spotlight is playing shadow puppet through the mud on the back glass, and he sends me off with an "I don't know how you can see through that; but I guess you can. Have a good night" and a stupid ass grin on my face.

When I was a pullover, I was wearing a cardigan.

The cop was with the fashion police, and he gave me a ticket for raveling too fast.

He was wearing a f*#king bow tie with collar studs on his khaki uniform shirt, and HE gave ME a ticket?

I never bothered paying it.

Tadzhik speed trap. They just point at you and you WILL pull over, if you know what's good
for you. A tooling there is in another league. Fast and furious won't cut it cause this road
heads up to 11,000' and they'll just call ahead to their homies, or pull out their Kalashnikovs
right there. We were cool, our driver had already donated to the Benevolence Fund I think.
And 'gai' isn't pronounced 'gay'.

I've been pulled over for speeding about 30 times. Only once did I get let off with a warning. Many of those were for less than 80 in a 65 zone. I just about always get the ticket no matter if I am nice or naughty. I don't really like traffic cops much. Maybe they can smell the fear on me...

I haven't been pulled over for a real violation since the summer of 1993. I was on the verge of losing my license with 2 more moving violation points tacked onto my record. Then I got rid of my radar detector. No problems since.

Got pulled over in a rental car in Nashville this past summer (2016) because the cop saw the car's Florida tag and ran it and couldn't find any record of the vehicle. I showed him my Avis paperwork and things were all good; and I probably had four really good micro-beers (Iron Abbey) running through my system at the time after climbing at one of the Nashville rock gyms (east or west?).

Now I drive a Prius and cops actively ignore me.

I was a new mom back at work and pumping breast milk.
At lunch I went to deliver some fresh breast milk and see my boy.
I made a left turn during the hours I wasn't supposed to.
A darling young cop pulls me over and begins the talk.
I showed him my jar of breast milk I needed to get to my baby and he was "oh oh, oh, uh uh uh". And said just a warning. Poor kid was so flummoxed!

Driving into Moab on a road trip with a bunch of MTBs on top. Had to speed up a little to get around a truck as the passing lane was ending. Siren, and pulled over. Ca plates and MTBs....surely a great bust. I think he was a little disappointed that all there were was a bunch of 50 somethings, probably closer to 60. He reduced my fine considerably.

When using the dinghy in the Oakland Estuary I've had the bull horn come on from Coast Guard Island that I was too close to float rings that edge the cutters. When you're just tooling along and that bull horn yells out at you it's a heart stopper. Homeland Secruity!

The only time in the last 10 years that I've been pulled over was on a bicycle for riding through a crosswalk. I was on downtown Market St about 10am and jumped onto the sidewalk as I thought the police cruiser, with blaring siren, was en route to a bank robbery. Turns out he was just trying to catch up to me. He admonished me with a "Do you know how dangerous that was?". I figured his high speed driving was much riskier for any jaywalking pedestrians, but held my tongue and got a $173 ticket.

Now what really annoys me are the numerous double parking TNCs, like Lyft and Uber who tie up busy streets. Too bad they mostly get warnings:

Hmmm, which time? Crikey, then I'd have to delineate between the times I ended up in jail and those I didn't. Sigh.

I don't have the poster any more which shows a view from a city rooftop looking down on an intersection with a guy standing outside his car in the middle of it with his hands up surrounded by cop cars, spot lights and guns drawn, but the caption on the bottom of it said this:

"Hang loose, stay calm, admit nothing"

Sage advice to go along with:

'Keep your hands visible'

'Yes and no sir'

'Don't try to act all lily-white innocent like nothing happened'.

Loved the scene in Hidden Figures where the cop gives the NASA employees an escort to their job. I love that it's like that for black women in the movies!

The good ones are the ones who give us a ticket or not depending on whether you deserve it, not because they drink the same beer we do.

Headed north on the I 5 for Mt. Lassen park for a very late fall hiking trip. New-to-me VW '78 pop-up Westy. I was headed out of town earlier and stopped at the DMV to finish the reg. When I got there, I had somehow left the bill of sale at home. So I paid all the fees--the rig was also smogged--and saved all the paper work. It was all set to go but for the bill of sale. So, rollin' north and CHP pulls me over. No problemo. I got this. I pull out the paper work and show him that it's all done but the one detail. The damn cop decides to write me a ticket to "make sure I finish the process"! And why, after doing everything else, spending all the money, getting it smogged, would I NOT finish it? Damn cop. When the ticket comes in the mail, its about $200! That's a lot of scratch for a dirt-poor college student in the '80's.

It turns out you can fight these kinds of tickets via mail--at least back then--if you lived far enough from the site of the ticket. I lived in Santa Rosa, so game on. I made copies of all the docs, marked all key info., explained the situation, and sent off the packet--and beat the ticket! I still get excited about that little victory.

Going thru Flagstaff Arizona I get pulled over by several cop cars with guns drawn.

They said I fit the description of the Bank robbery suspect.

They checked me out and searched my vehicle and found ropes, climbing and camping gear.

They now knew I rappelled into the bank and was going to hide out in dead man's gulch with the loot.

Rolls eyes .... they let me go cause they knew I was the wrong guy of course ....
