I'd like to explore the Moab area this March, mountain biking (advanced) and some intermediate bouldering and climbing are on the cards.
I've been looking at the Big Bend campground, is this the best place for centrality to the above mentioned activities?
Any recommendations welcome!
Thanks.

Where would be the center in Utah for access to biking and easier climbing?

Ferretlegger and I have a home in Moab where we spend spring and fall. We'll be there in March. Give us a heads' up when you're there.
As for camping....it's all over the place....you'd be centrally located just about any of the camping areas. The Bend is right at a major bouldering area, of course. As ekat mentioned, there is camping all along 128 next to the river.
There is tons of camping out Kane Creek, which is along the river on the west side of Moab.
Some camping out near "Wall Street" (climbing area)
Great camping up at Sand Flats recreation area, also along 313 on the way to Dead Horse and Island in the Sky, Dead Horse has great camping. In town camping probably more friendly to RVs.
Of course Moab is the "MTB capital of the world". They seem to be spewing new trails like crazy. Most are all non motorized trails. Advanced....yes got those. Lots of those. (Way above my pay grade). All the bike stores are class acts and very reputable. My favorite is Poison Spider and Moab Cyclery. They all have great maps. My favorite on line resource, and kept current is: http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/idx-moab.htm Our favorite outfitters are Moab Gear Trader (consignment...awesome place) and GearHeads. Pagan Moutaineering is another good outfitter.
Lots of climbing all over. Canyoneering (water holes could be chilly in March). Indian Creek, of course, Fishers and on and on.
Not sure when you'll be there in March but I think we have some other Canadians staying with us doing the same activities. Please do contact us ... we've been crossroads for a lot of adventurers. My email: Srwruns "at" att "dot" net
Have a great time and do connect with us.

Where would be the center in Utah for access to biking and easier climbing? Moab is a unique expierence and a def. bucket list destination for a mtber, but with that said. St George is a LOT better than most think....camp at "the gap" and you have miles of cool trails(Zen Trail, Barrels, Etc.) around you and climbing(5.7-5.13) literally off your bumper. Gooseberry Mesa is as fun as anything Ive road in Moab, you can camp there and be staring at ZION. Worth a look if your not hung up on Moab.

BigB not hung up on Moab at all. Just looking for some great trails to ride and a bit of climbing along the side.
Oh and sun.. winters in the Kootenays get boring after a while :)
Also, I am flexible with time, I'd just like to go somewhere sunny whilst it's snowing here in BC.
So March/April probably?

For sure Utah has all kinds of hidden gems that are less well known than Moab. You could consider hitting a number of them on a stop and go road trip. If you're coming down this far you really owe it to yourself to check out Zion and Bryce, Capitol Reef too. There's also great MTB in Fruita, an hour away from Moab.
There's so much to do it can get overwhelming in the planning.
I don't know if I know the folks you mentioned. We run into so many folks I can't keep track.
Happy planning!

I suggest getting these maps:
https://shop.nationalgeographic.com/product/maps/trail-maps/utah/moab-trail-map-pack-bundle
They have all the campgrounds and rec info for the whole area so you can choose where you camp based on what you want to do. MTB trails are rated sort of like ski runs (beginner, expert, etc.) All the 4wd trails are marked too so you can avoid and/or use them per your preference.
There are a bazillion campgrounds so it's hard to recommend one- the BLM sites along the river fill up on weekends and you have to drive farther out along the river to get a site. Of course that's dependent on the season, time of week, etc.
Have fun!
