Anyone know who this might be or what the story might be?

cool little puzzle, maybe someone will recognize him?

apparently they are celebrating the book that the climber dude and the guy in the midground with glasses is holding...

maybe someone recognizes the cover... the resolution isn't all that great...

3rd guy from the left looks like it could be Shig Murao, the City Lights clerk who was arrested on June 3, 1957, for selling Allen Ginsberg's Howl to an undercover San Francisco police officer. In the trial that followed, Murao was charged with selling the book and Lawrence Ferlinghetti with publishing it. Murao and Ferlinghetti were exonerated and Howl was judged protected under the First Amendment, a decision that paved the way for the publication of Henry Miller, D.H. Lawrence, William Burroughs, and many other writers who offended puritanical elements of society. from Wikipedia

That is Pete, the youngest droog. He never spoke very much at times.
He preferred to use notes, in fact, when he was very uptight. This may be one of those times.

He also was pretty good with a shillelagh.

The North Face store was in N Beach. Maybe he's from the store?

My friend, the scholar/mountain hermit Sean O'Grady guesses that the occasion here is City Lights' 1968 publication of Rene Daumal's classic Mount Analogue.

the cover of the book they're holding doesn't quite look like the cover of Mount Analogue as published by City Lights:

I think it's Blitzo!

"I have seen the best climbers of my generation destroyed by dabs and pink points. Dreams of brown trousers, and oppression by the tool have forced them from the valley of light to the scruffy crags of the front range to Rantoul....

There is an art to finding your way in the lower regions by the memory of what you have seen when you were higher up. When you can no longer see, you can at least still know. . .

A friend posted it on FB. Apparently she'd found it at a classic car gathering and was gassed by the hexed-out hipster.

She later posted this:
