Taken in November, but certainly involving Sir Isaac Newton.

Although it might be noted that Newton was born on January 4th in the modern calendar - only in the Julian calendar was he born on December 25th. And despite his huge contributions to science and mathematics, doesn't seem to have been a very nice person, and later in life was a religious crackpot.

A snow plow clears a road near Highway 395 near Mammoth Lakes as heavy snow blankets the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains after a blizzard dropped as much as 10 feet of snow in the biggest storm system so far this season. (Allen J. Schaben / LA Times

Looks like it's gonna be a Spring Wonderland this year!

It's a White Winter, Yeah

The snowflakes feel like a thousand butterflies settling on my cheeks.
And I've hardly seen the sun or sky during the last eleven weeks.
The ice has come to claim all the rivers, lakes, and creeks.
And the ski slopes are loaded now with a million goldarn geeks!

Rancho Hocking after last months snow storm that knocked out power to the Redding area.
In a few months temps will be like an oven. :(

these are south american snow crows, they feed on the grasshoppers that migrate underneath the snow on the way to patagonia, the grasshoppers emit radioactive larvae which are picked up by magnetic sensors in the crow's feet, these larvae are harvested by the snow crows during the months of june and july.

unlike eastern sparrows, these snow crows ski straight down the hill in an aero tuck as to maximize speed and enjoyment, as opposed to doing silly, limp wristed dual cordinated S turns to show off patterns and choice of ski wax in a useless display of wasted energy which are shown in ski lodge movies at night while yuppies sit around the fire place in mohair sweaters and sip hot toddys.

did a little spring hikeing today. what a change from last weekend. Most of the steep interesting stuff is toast. I did manage a 30m and a 35m pitch in the 3 to 3+ range
