RR clothing has always been from the best fabrics, beautifully stitched, and wonderfully cut.. A+ all the way around... a stark contrast when compared to the shoe-e-nerd stuff after Frost left.

I would totally buy RR clothing if it would make me look as ruggedly handsome as those models on the website!

The problem for RR is not a lot of youngins like the stuff. They think it looks like the stuff their parents wear.

Nice website, for sure.
It may be as you say, that young folks like their own thing, unless they are into retro. Which few in the mountain crowd are.
I really like the old Woolrich style, myself. I wonder what ever happened to my old Alaska gray shirt and my blue Yukon.

Maybe Tamara can speak to whether the family still benefits from the brand and/or sales, but I sure do resonate with the cover photo and FB photos on Pinecrest lake on hwy 108.

I bought a Robbins polyester outdoor shirt twenty years ago when it went on sale at Dillard's for $16. It has been an incredible shirt and still looks new after countless episodes in all sorts of weather. Best clothing buy I ever made.

Hey - I'm Steve the current marketing director at Royal Robbins. Liz Robbins rejoined the company about a year ago as senior advisor. Royal himself hasn't taken an active role, but he's been very supportive of Liz and of us. Love hearing all this and glad you guys like the quality. It's an incredible privilege to try to uphold the values that they started the company with. -Steve

Lol Munge, as you know, I have much to say but I'll refrain.... ;)
suffice to say that yes, mom is working with the current RR Inc. Personally, I feel more confident about the direction and leadership of the brand than I have since the original sale....
That's all for now ;)
PS - Munge and others who i've been in touch with - please resend me your contact info as there are a few things in the works and unfortunately I lost my phone and all its contents last july. TY!
Cheers.... ;)

I bought a RR fleece-ish jacket when I started climbing and it's still my favorite more than 10 years later.
The zipper got wonky a few years ago, but whenever I go shopping for a replacement, I just can't stomach spending the money on a piece of clothing that isn't "as good or better."
Looked at the website and yeah - several pieces I would probably like. Maybe when I am back at the preserve and making a paycheck this summer, I will revisit.
There are plenty of items in the womans that probably would appeal to 20's age, and if merchandised in a shop geared to that age bracket would do well. But set in amidst the entire unfiltered selection, I agree that the overall aesthetic is more appealing to my age group.
I do wish for 3/4 length pants though, which I didn't see. I actually have very nice looking legs, but the at-knee length bug me. They're fine "as shorts" but for climbing, I have the habit of wiping my shoe on the pants leg and get frustrated when I feel my shoe got some leaves or whatever on it and I want to brush it off.

When I worked for a certain evil empire BITD I tried to use my Chicago street charm on Royal
to get him to see the true path to success and enrichment. Because I had foresworn the
traditional Chicago forms of coercion I am happy to say that I was unsuccessful. ;-)
I still look back on that meeting in Modesto very fondly. A real gentleman he. My old friend
Bruce Carson was working on the floor as we spoke so I went out there afterwards and bought
my first pair of EBs! Did I just date myself? :-/
I have bought a number of 'his' fine products in the last few years. I don't find them at all
over-priced in view of their quality and expected return on investment. I'm also happy to
be supporting such an excellent company.

Just bought another pair of Billy Goat shorts. I don't care what they cost.
I like them, they fit, they are beautifully made, and they last. I especially like that RR has gone back to the heavier weight fabric as they will last even longer.
Best shorts ever. Dirtbag tested, Barbarian approved.

Be gracious
Trust me when I say I love me some Royal Robbins...he's been one of my heroes forever.
Will I buy his over-priced clothes though.....? ......Doubtful.
At the most if I come across one I'll pick up a t-shirt to support him.
Thanks for putting up some of my favorite routes Royal...
