A frightening thought indeed. ^^^^^^^^^

I wonder if one of the liberal nutbags (who have shown through history to make the most amount of assassination attempts on presidents) actually kills Trump if they will still blame everyone but themselves for the state of affairs?

North Carolina.

Facist, communist, nazi, socialist - are words used to describe European behavior a century ago.

Its time for new words, that apply and work in this century, for our country?

Here are some: Neo-fascism, neo-liberalism

What's going on?

If you're referring to the State republicans using a special session to fill judgeships, how is it different from Dems using the Nuclear Option to bypass filibusters?

Are the NC Republicans acting worse than the NC Dems have for the last century and a half? If so, how?

Well, one glaring difference is that the nuclear option is a procedural move in which the majority party grants the minority party the ability to procedurally block a nominee.

This is a majority party attempting to legislatively rig the executive and judicial branches to maintain power. I don't see how they are like each other at all.

I'm not sure what your point is. I suspect you are trying to raise the point that 19th century and early 20th century democrats used unscrupulous methods to maintain power in North Carolina. If so, we'll, duh.

Grief counseling is advisable. Mayor de Blasio may help if any of you are in the NYC area. On the West Coast, Nancy Pelosi's clinic may be the ticket. Don't let this go on so long that emotional pain becomes a fixture of your life. Good luck.

How much brainpower do we honestly give ourselves credit for?

When we get done processing and validating and verifying all of the fake information, and then go on to process and validate and verify all of the fake meta-information (the system is rigged!), and then go on to invent a whole new language to talk about what's really going on (because the language we have is not up to the task), what do we think is going to be left, while Trump is at the reins, and we're re-inventing our faulty belief processes?

Humans are delusional.

Maybe that's due to your poor understanding of the Nuclear Option.

The nuclear or constitutional option is a parliamentary procedure that allows the U.S. Senate to override a rule or precedent by a simple majority of 51 votes.

It's a means of sidestepping filibusters... sidestepping the rules.

I haven't stopped laughing since I read this. Thank you. Unfortunately, I'm becoming convinced that those who need it the most, like Dirtbag just upthread, do not read any posts past the first 3, perhaps 4 words. If that. Their ability to be wrong would be humorous if it wasn't so painful to watch it continue on ad infinitum.

The Midas Clutch

He rose to the pinnacle on the winds of mistrust
Burning all bridges of love in his lust
For adulation and power he did what he must
And the almighty dollar in whose God we trust

He talked of his prowess and fortunes and fame
And attributed all such great things to his own name
He belittled the unfortunate without any shame
And treated all his enemies and public the same

He talked down to us all with his childish decrees
And parlayed the media to support him for free
He conned all his backers and conned you and me
With the blatant tax shelters and shell companies

He convinced half the voters to buy what he sold
To believe all he touches would turn into gold
While pulling the wool o'er the young and the old
There's no telling what trumpery he's yet to unfold

By the saddest of twists and the cruelest of tact
As we're seduced by the glitter and the flashiest acts
We would crawl to the alter while denying the fact
Of his TV career telling people they're sacked

And such is the seduction of corporate greed
To the paranoid mind is planted the seed
That such blind avaricious thoughts and ill deeds
And extravagant lifestyles are what men truly need

This hotel mogul now has all the reins
To a nation that's powerless and woe to restrain
A nefarious magnate who's clearly left brained
Whose desire for approval won't ever be contained

His penthouse suite is fully inundated
Gilded by gold and platinum plated
But his superior air has been often frustrated
When his Midas touch myth has been repudiated

All those who've crossed him fall victim to his hex
You'd think sniping on Twitter would be the apex
But that's where the reason and logic does vex
As we're left all to wonder what thing he would do next

Though the mastery of his appeal is to some still a mystery
The clue to his success is revealed by his history
In the long line of victims, ex wife's, and beneficiaries
Is the fact that he is woe to concede to an injury

Though he might be well versed at the art of the deal
With his opportunistic need to attack with such zeal
Like all men he must sleep and sometimes he must kneel
It's not much of a weakness or an Achilles heel

But it remains that he's human and there's the insanity
For no man is an island regardless of their vanity
His assaults on our weaknesses is the peak of inanity
And it proves that he has little regard for humanity

So just know that the wealthy will benefit the most
As you endure every speech so repetitively verbose
That while under this influence the others shall be like ghosts
And that up to the end he'll be reaping the highest gross

But unlike some despots and criminals of the past
His Midas touch most likely will not be his last
When he types in the launch codes and turns us all to glass
You'll regret what you might've wished for but briefly, alas

That gave me a headache,
and is way more than I have time for.
So for now, it's all I've got.
