All great beers! Yah, Alpine Boys killed it with those two. I think Green Flash bought them out though, on an FYI note.

Not much of a drinker but next time I buy one it will be a Bud, a toast to their Superbowl ad. I might not drink it though!

Mooch, I know what you mean. A brewer can't help but put his stamp on a recipe. I can tell there are some homebrewers here and I don't know if you are one but looking at the other "beer" thread I can tell you've got some vision when it comes to beer. Porter with notes of coffee, vanilla, and horchata; THAT's vision.

Thanks! I do homebrew and we actually started a homebrew club with Eric (owner of KRBC) and Adrian (master brewer).....The Saccromyties. "Assisted" with the current release of 'Eddy Flower' (TIPA), checking in at 11.6%. I personally think it's a notch above 'Hop Nookie'. Fruit forward, Simcoe essence, excellent mouth feel, SCM is about a 13. Has that East coast haziness (which I personally like......the Left Coast style is kinda boring to me).

That Eastern flavor ? smudged? I'm not sure what it is but
This local brewery has found the balance These seasonal offerings, and their flagship "Road To Ruin" &
"Route Of All Evil " You probably think I'm ruining both to mix them
There's no Tan to this black & tan.

I'm referring to the IPA style, specifically how east coast brewers like to make hop additions at the end of fermentation. Hop sediment, even after they have "crashed" (dropped the temp from room temp to the 30's), the color is more of an opaque golden yellow, rather than fairly clear when done Left Coast style.

Well, come on over. I've got a keg of... hmmmm... "Beyond East Coast Style" IPA waiting for you. All the things you're talking about, plus 13.5% abv.

As for right now, sipping in the opposite direction:

Ghost......time for us to brew!

I'd love to brew with you, but today is not the day. The time for us to brew will be in the future, when Seattle is not the 400 square mile parking lot that it has become today.

A propane tanker truck overturned on I-5, at the point where it intersects I-90. Both highways have been closed. And if that weren't enough, it began pounding snow at about 15:00. The entire area is gridlocked, wet, snowy, icy, stormy, rainy, cold, wet, and f*#ked-up to the max.

Fortunately, I commute by bicycle. Which was... uh... interesting, I think is the term for it today. But whereas it took me about 40 minutes to peddle very carefully home (instead of the usual 30), anyone who was hoping to drive home in a car... Well, nuff said.

And even more fortunately (this is the "WHAT BEER are you drinking right now" thread, right?) I have an ample supply of just what is needed when I arrive home after such an adventure...

One of those days...

Up way early to drop Mari off at the airport, which puts me in the saddle at work way early, too. But that's okay, cuz I can put in a full day and get out by 15:00.

Then to the gym and push weights that are way too heavy, in an effort to numb myself to what I'm going to confront when I get home... Yeah, a house that will feel empty for two weeks until she gets back from Red Rocks. But there is Gulden Draak in the cellar, and a glass while I start preparing dinner numbs my mind to match what the weights did to my body.
