Damn, thought this was gonna be about industrial riggers, or even movie riggers.
You know, something interesting and meaningful. ;-)

My occupation is generally interesting but rarely, if ever, meaningful.

My brother Mike assassinated Tigger on Mom's orders.

He was framed. I'm the only one who cried and I don't even know where he was buried.

Hey Reilly, as promised here are a couple of pictures of my sweet bungee connection. Total cost for 12 (!) bungees at Harbor Freight was $6.49, including tax. I rig with three because then you have backup. I'll probably tie them together with cable ties just to make a neater bundle. Anyway, sweet and easy and cheap!

So there you have it!!!! Easy Peasy and cheap. Plus you got that backup stuff goin' on. People I meet climbing keep telling me about safety, so I guess it's important.

Too bad they didn't have that getup when the Titanic went down, but who'd have thought it was necessary.

Cap'n Bligh, who was rumoured to be much smarter, used it, dare I say it, religiously when keelhauling the riff raff.

Wino, I like the way you roll! Way to think outside the box! So, how the phuk was this 2014
Chateau Cristia Chateauneuf du Pape so damn drinkable? I wasn't even gonna open it but
they assured me I wouldn't be disappointed and, boy, howdy! It would certainly benefit from
a few years in the cellar but I had no idea a '14 Pape could be so ready!

My operating theory is that the Pope, hence God, had something to do with it. Only good if you're Catholic though. And not a choir boy.

Honestly, who knows? I've had some wines taste so good in barrel after one year you would swear they were the second coming, only to find, two years later, they were just great. When tannins age they polymerize, making long chain molecules out of the shorter chains. The way we perceive tannins is though our taste buds and the long chain tannins bond preferentially with our taste buds, damping out the perceived harsh tannin astringency. So long chain is good. This sort of explains why aged wines feel better on the pallet than new wines. From there, it's sort of a guess and the subject of a much longer response than this. Hope this is helpful.

So the bungees bind the short chains together, but what about the look and feel ?

I guess it's OK as long as nobody looks inside that cask of Amontillado?

T, I used to use those!!!!! So many people at the rocks were coming up to me, though, and piling bad sh#t to me about them I stopped. I try and use only tested biners now, ones that have been pulled and proved they work; my theory is the rougher they look the more they've been used, so they must be stronger. It's like leg muscles. I think this is true about all climbing gear - if it's been tested, it's proven tough! Notice my proven tie in biner.

Got any 'proven' gear you'd like to sell?

I was sitting here, sipping my second 'morning' brandy when the thought occurred to me that lots of climbers have no science training and so are ignorant in the ways of science. Probably a lot of you are like, bus drivers, or cafeteria workers, or maybe just welfare queens! Who knows?

Most of you probably don't realize how scientific wine making is. For example, I have to deal with stuff like 'grams' and 'liters' and '%' (my favorite is 14%) and '°C' (that's a temperature thing; I usually do my calculations in 'Kelvin' and then convert). Anyway, I'm sure you can see how scientific it is when you have to use the European science stuff without being able to speak France.

I'm explaining this so you understand how valid what I am about to reveal is. It's pretty much a given that any climbing gear has a 10% chance of failure at any time; that's my experience for sure. So that means if you have 10 pieces of gear strung out there, if you fall you have 100% chance of system failure! That's why people who use like two biners when you could get away with using one have actually doubled their potential failure rate! It boggles the mind that supposedly intelligent people can't do these easy statistical calculations! How far our school system has fallen.

Bottom line? Use less gear, use tested gear, think positive!!!

Thanks for reading my little rant. I don't 'wall climb' but do have some ideas about how to improve things. If you're interested in my latest idea let me know and I'll post it up.

Hey Mouse, what kinda thread is this?
I can assure you the system is rigged here in Montana.a good day for a JW Whiskey commercial based (loosely)around rock climbing? Sure, I'll come outta semi-retirement for a day to coordinate/safety rig under the big sky. Used to do a lot of it, now fun to see old production friends.
Camera arrives, we're to shoot some straight down perspective and CU's first, I'm stuffed in for the talent's belay. Then it's clear everything off except the female climber, stunt woman Alice extraordinaire for magic hour Heli shot. As MIB prepare to dash to such bird, I remind the Director "there needs to be someone on this top line as she climbs...absolute". OK, stay stuffed and I'll paint you out. Soon the memories flushed, the noisy radio chatter as heli positions itself, fancy Tyler like nose cam/remote mount, a familiar Montana pilot I'd worked w'before and knew could trust, soon pass after pass, "reset", i'd jump from my hole back to the prow and lower the trooper Alice 40' back down fast I could, while keying the walky as we discuss next thoughts, then pull back to hole and rake in all line to keep it from being sucked up. I'd had the sense to tell her before the mayhem, that no matter what I'm needed to multi-task you are always #1. You might wonder but I will not drop you!
Next few passes they start hovering for CU's as she tops out. Hunkered in the hurricane's eye, the ship's skid would snake by an arm length or two away. Alice could barely keep on her feet. A great Johnny Walker shot!

Oh, and a last note, no one died so there won't be worry of any voter fraud.
Thanks Mouse, hope i'm not a bore.

Never boring on the ST. Yer just fine. Jake with me.

I've never heard of harassment by whirlybird before. That's a new wrinkle.

Yer a stout-hearted champion of the fair sex.

Now your basic Negro, now there's a natural athalete, and, when improperly socialized, tends towards fighting, break-dancing, and that exaggerated form of jumping gait called hip-hop.

We're gonna look into this real hard in my first hundred days, bigly.
