Supporting the ASCA this year? Please do it before Nov 1 by donating here - http://safeclimbing.org/help.htm

Why?

All donations before Nov 1 will be matched by Planet Granite up to 20K. Yes, PG will DOUBLE your donation.

Thanks to your donations so far and the Peter Croft Fundraiser on October 6, we are already up to 12k. That is awesome! But we have a ways to go. Please donate before Nov 1 by clicking here.

Or, if you want to score deals on used outdoor gear, you can buy it here (more items added soon). 100% of proceeds go to ASCA - http://stores.ebay.com/outdoorgearlabstore/

And if you donate more than $25, you get a free Yosemite Big Walls book signed by me!

donated. Thanks for the info. I had been meaning to for a while and a free book was incentive enough to do it now! Thanks Chris

Here's a photo of some recent ASCA-sponsored rebolting work in Clear Creek Canyon Colorado. Rusted 5-piece bolts snapped when trying to remove them. The anchor is now SS Fixe hangers and SS Powers 5-piece bolts.

We're a bit over $13K right now, PG will match all the way to 20, donate now and grab friends looking for tax deductions!

I'm just boxing up a pile of bolts for City of Rocks, sending to CRAG & Dave Bingham who will be replacing bolts now that Brad Shilling is retired - I think City of Rocks was the only place around where the Climbing Ranger coordinated all the rebolting (the City is kind of a hybrid Idaho state park/NPS unit, I don't know if NPS rangers are allowed to replace bolts anywhere else while on the clock). Huge thanks to Brad for all his replacement work over the years!

Your ASCA donation dollars hard at work. 30 year old wedge bolts replaced at Pinnacles National Park. Thanks to Clint, Dan(AKA Banquo) and John Cook for all their hard work.

Bruce,

I had fun pulling and replacing old bolts. Dangling off Discovery Wall with Clint pulling 30 year old bolts was a treat.

The tools for removing wedge bolts work better than I had hoped but I know I can make a few improvements.

I have some ideas to make the tools less expensive and better.
