2) Lava surfing: Some sort of high temperature surfboard/raft that one could surf down the lava streams of Hawaii. The brave ones would go underground through the lava tubes and emerge, victorious, at the other end. Asbestos probably required. Points added for style.
I actually thought of really doing this years ago after I dunked an egg whisk in lava and made lava popsicles.
The lava moves slowly so it's really not that outrageous. The main thing is I wouldn't want to leave behind some ugly board frozen into the lava for thousands of years.
It's like standing next to a blazing bonfire so You'd probably only get a couple yards at best.
Maybe something like the heat shield on space capsules. Where it burns away but provides protection for a while? Over a nice koa wood platform that also burns away.
