Father Gary Thomas discusses how he became an excorcist, and why he wanted to advise Anthony Hopkins on his role in the movie, The Rite.

Demons are very real, my brothers. They are here to mess with you and deceive you. They hate you because God loves you.

The are envious of God's love. They are fallen angels who were jealous of God's special love of mankind.

Very interesting stuff. I've been reading a lot about cases in Central/South America and wondered why they were so vulnerable as a generally God-fearing people.

Turns out they dabble in the occult a lot, or, they have lost faith in God. I'll dig up some of the recent cases I've read about. One of them involved a bizarre toad that kept appearing.

He also talks about people of other faiths coming to him for his work, because they don't know how to deal with demonic possession. Raises some questions about different belief systems and why demons would f*#k with them.

Stay faithful, my friends! God bless you all.

Yeah, I guess you could say that.

Here's the 'toad' one I mentioned from Nicaragua;
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/demon-leaps-woman-being-interviewed-8644982

Father Thomas discusses why a pro is required WITH OTHER PROS with him to do it safely. The above story kinda illustrates why, the demon will move to other vulnerable people.

This is disturbing, and simultaneously fascinating.

How many virgins are you going to get?

One, her name is Mary. She's like of a mother, you pervert! What the f*#k kind of pervert just wants virgins when he dies?

Not really talking about you, Andrej, just people who believe that.

EDIT:

I'm finer than I've been in a long time. Thanks for the thoughts!

I would be derelict as a Catholic if I did not warn people I care about.

That's all. Believe what you want. This ain't Jesus-camp. I don't think the Catholic church is doing this for 'ratings' either.

Mock me if you must. But just be warned. The good Father even mentions that you don't really have to go to mass. You just need...faith. A reverence for God. A personal relationship with God, which is how I roll.

I do not go to church anymore really. Not proud of it, but I still hold God in my prayers and ask him to bless my family everyday.

What we believe in is not our choice. Nothing is.

I disagree. And that is the problem, or dilemma, that God left with us. Free-will, and the choice to choose either Him or something else.

It's quite easy to choose nothing. And I understand why people do that. It's the easy road.

The easy road? I respectfully disagree. Being a non believer and still knowing right from wrong and striving to be our best is not easy.
I see the churches telling people right from wrong, how life is to be lived, and full forgiveness and entry into paradise with the right waiver as the easy way.

I wonder where you learned right from wrong? It came from somewhere. The whole notion of right/wrong is divine in nature.

If god were good and all powerful the option of torturing people in hell for eternity could have been avoided.

Maybe god is a capitalist? Refuses to think ahead more than one quarter?

Or.. maybe that is a false belief about God and God doesn't torture people in hell for all eternity. In fact, hell is not a creation of God, and so can't last for all eternity because only things made by God can last for all eternity.

So on the one hand you have people who have a false understanding of God.

And on the other hand, you have people who condemn God for humans false understanding.

Way too funny. Who is the greater fool? I hear this all the time and it makes me laugh and cry. A person won't believe in God because of what people believe about God, rather then doing their own experiments in trying to discern who or what God is.. Cracks me up. And they say they are scientists. I have greater respect for Craig and HFCS, because at least they tried to understand who or what God is by seeking God rather then just by finding out what people believe and then dismissing God because of some humans belief.

....

As for Exorcism.. its about time the Catholic church started openly doing exorcisms again. It was pure evil to deny the people that help for all those years. Hurray for the new Pope. He did at least one thing right. The previous pope was a fallen angel. He sold his soul a long time ago. There was no good left in him.

....

that should fire up this crowd. Heh heh..

Steve...I try to remain open minded about religions , Catholicism and the paranormal..There are many things that have no explanation...On the other hand myself and a friend we called the turkey , left smoke bomb in the confessional during saturday confessions...These 2 older lady twin sisters we called the Wolf Brothers ( in honor of the famous Mad magazine characters) didn't bat an eye as we sprinted out the church doors....Then there was the missing wine bottles that disappeared from the sacristy...The monsignor ended up in a nut house...

Believe it or not I was an altar-boy for a while in an English-speaking church in Italy when I lived there. Totally against my will, my Italian grandma (still kicking at 99) would volunteer my bro and I before the mass as we all mingled.

Yeah, going to church every Sunday was also her idea, that my father obliged. We all went.

I understand how people grow tired of the 'ritual' of Sunday mass. I did. I will say that I always feel really good after I go though, when I do. Probably a subtle guilt thing being relieved.

I've just decided to keep God in my life on a personal level. Church only works well if you find the right one for you, personally. People underestimate how cool some churches can be.

Catholic mass kind of ruined my whole church experience. The ritualistic kneeling, pray now, say this, now do that thing just wasn't for me.

EDIT:Bruce said

I totally agree. The message and purpose has been distorted. There are no free-passes just because you pray, or kneel, or do whatever. It has to be in your heart, your SOUL. You have to live it.

It's possible to do that without a church, but I don't see that without a faith in God and his message. Without a respect for divinity. That's just me though.

"Demons are very real, my brothers"

Yes, they are, blue. I found one a most demonically sacrilicious demon today on so-called .11- thin hands to OW free climbing. It'd be a real shame to exorcise something that great, huh?
