I'm of the same opinion that all rap, while poetry,
is the evidence of how diverse experience harms the very people it claims to support.

I Can't lead others to understanding it is CRAP
when it is presented as having value . the plight of women, continuing to be treated as chattel, is what is being perpetrated against women. There is no male/female balance by /inmost of 'Rap' society.

So as much as I value female members here at the sausage fest that is ST,
I reject that that form of urban poetry has much redeeming value.

As women you need to stand up take a hand full of those boy's short hairs and rip them out!
Male.Gansta, thug life, is all about abusing women
Figure it out!
So Not Safe For Work!
Art work deleted because I agree it is gross but not nearly Porn!

My apologies for my own geezer ness but the redeeming value of the poetry & rhythm
Do not trump the damage to the society that is exposed to this Crap, by parents brothers as well as sisters. ( forced to adhere to be not out, or worse cool with it)

Ohfehrgawshsakes! That horse is dead. There is so much spectacular Spoken Word, Rap and Hip Hop.

Donini and Gnome, I respect you guys so I'm going to lay one video on you with some background.

You may know the Sublime hook " I know because of KRS-1". Before Tupac got killed Scott LaRoc got killed. More of the same. Lots of guns and drugs sold by non-African Americans to disenfranchised inner city kids. Scott Sterling, that is. I'm sure you're thinking student athlete and college graduate working at a men's shelter and DJ-ing and producing music, right? Right?

Do you criticize Francis Copeland for Vietnam (Apocalypse Now)?
Please don't fall back on the mistaken notion that some ugly rap represents all rap. Does Tiny Tim or Ozzy Ozbourne represent something other than just themselves? There now exists a deep body of hip hop that will be on par with the English waves of the last decades.

There's a catchy little rap called "9mm". Recorded just before he was killed. Just a simple lament about having to kill some nefarious crack dealers. A day in the life. But it resonates to those of us who want children to grow up happy in places without guns and killing. That's why it changes the course of music and history. Over time, it turns into this:

Is this what you think of when you think of tupacs message?

Lyrics
Come on come on
I see no changes. Wake up in the morning and I ask myself,
"Is life worth living? Should I blast myself?"
I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black.
My stomach hurts, so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch.
Cops give a damn about a negro? Pull the trigger, kill a nigga, he's a hero.
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares? One less hungry mouth on the welfare.
First ship 'em dope and let 'em deal to brothers.
Give 'em guns, step back, and watch 'em kill each other.
"It's time to fight back", that's what Huey said.
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead.
I got love for my brother, but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other. We gotta start makin' changes.
Learn to see me as a brother 'stead of 2 distant strangers.
And that's how it's supposed to be.
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat]

I see no changes. All I see is racist faces.
Misplaced hate makes disgrace to races we under.
I wonder what it takes to make this one better place...
let's erase the wasted.
Take the evil out the people, they'll be acting right.
'Cause both black and white are smokin' crack tonight.
And only time we chill is when we kill each other.
It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other.
And although it seems heaven sent,
we ain't ready to see a black President, uhh.
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact...
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks.
But some things will never change.
Try to show another way, but they stayin' in the dope game.
Now tell me what's a mother to do?
Bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you.
You gotta operate the easy way.
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way.
Sellin' crack to the kids. "I gotta get paid, "
Well hey, well that's the way it is.

We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

And still I see no changes. Can't a brother get a little peace?
There's war on the streets and the war in the Middle East.
Instead of war on poverty,
they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me.
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do.
But now I'm back with the facts givin' 'em back to you.
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up, crack you up and pimp smack you up.
You gotta learn to hold ya own.
They get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone.
But tell the cops they can't touch this.
I don't trust this, when they try to rush I bust this.
That's the sound of my tool. You say it ain't cool, but mama didn't raise no fool.
And as long as I stay black, I gotta stay strapped and I never get to lay back.
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the payback.
Some buck that I roughed up way back... comin' back after all these years.
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat. That's the way it is. uhh

Some things will never change

Or this?

I hear Brenda's got a baby
But, Brenda's barely got a brain
A damn shame
The girl can hardly spell her name
(That's not our problem, that's up to Brenda's family)
Well let me show ya how it affects the whole community
Now Brenda really never knew her moms and her dad was a
junky
Went in death to his arms, it's sad
Cause I bet Brenda doesn't even know
Just cause your in the ghetto doesn't mean ya can't grow
But oh, that's a thought, my own revelation
Do whatever it takes to resist the temptation
Brenda got herself a boyfriend
Her boyfriend was her cousin, now lets watch the joy end
She tried to hide her pregnancy, from her family
Who didn't really care to see, or give a damn if she
Went out and had a church of kids
As long as when the check came they got first dibs
Now Brenda's belly is gettin bigger
But no one seems to notice any change in her figure
She's 12 years old and she's having a baby
In love with the molester, who's sexing her crazy
And yet she thinks that he'll be with her forever
And dreams of a world with the two of them are together,
whatever
He left her and she had the baby solo, she had it on the
bathroom floor
And didn't know so, she didn't know, what to throw away and
what to keep
She wrapped the baby up and threw him in the trash heep
I guess she thought she'd get away
Wouldn't hear the cries
She didn't realize
How much the the little baby had her eyes
Now the baby's in the trash heep balling
Momma can't help her, but it hurts to hear her calling
Brenda wants to run away
Momma say, you makin' me lose pay, the social workers here
everyday
Now Brenda's gotta make her own way
Can't go to her family, they won't let her stay
No money no babysitter, she couldn't keep a job
She tried to sell crack, but end up getting robbed
So now what's next, there ain't nothing left to sell
So she sees sex as a way of leaving hell
It's paying the rent, so she really can't complain
Prostitute, found slain, and Brenda's her name, she's got a baby

Baby

I SAID I KNOW
THE POETRY IS!!
well, 100 % deserving

but, the continued mis-treatment of women is offensive.

Flip, I and my daughter have to deal with young men who have heard, been brought up on this CRAP. Im not stepping back from what I said the Music? supports the terrible treatment of women.
With pretty much everyone can see . . . (Video removed)

Before I posted the Video, I looked at a few, the choices boiled down to one of two Necro
versions of that song. The other video was a live performance that included much more than simulation of acts all clothing was on it was Porn. . . .

But now I've added the link. It is a video of a 'twerking' girl ,
with very raunchy-violent to women, lyrics.
No where near the 'worst' example. The name NEcRO should give you a hint
The actual poetry, the flow and cadence, it's mesh with the music too . . .
So Not Safe For Work, Super Gross? Porn?, please do not go there if you don't want to see it
