It is a terrifying time to be a happy camper, even if you voted for Trump. Nobody truly knows what the future holds. I am pretty scared

How did Hillary win Washington with 46% while Trump had 47%?
Totally screwed up my estimate. ;^(
They just bumped her up to 48%, that's how. ;^)

I agree. It's not just that Trump looks like he will win. It's that a large part of the US population have shwon me that they ignorant, racist, mean spirited and want a despot rather than a leader. What happened to my country?

Gotta say, I am one happy camper.
There's hope for our republic.
Within 12 hours Donald will get his private special screening of a lovely warm November day long ago in Dallas. A motorcade is slowly winding it's way through Dealey plaza....
You're right though, there's 'hope'. They wouldn't need to screen Killary.

Email issue - standard is not gross negligence, but intent. The law is more than statutes.
Trump If he wins will unlikely be a two-termer in my guess. There will be a lot of disillusioned folks in the U.S. once they see him in action and the dour results.
Don't forget those automatically triggered recounts.
The beat goes on.

"The results show that even a buffoon can get elected over the status quo that the greater percentage of this country is sick and tired of."
Yeah, all that buffoon needs is votes, Cragman.

the likelier prospect still is that HRC will win
that said, suppose not. We live in a federal republic where power is splintered across political branches and across states. Powerful as the presidency is, it's not a kingship. The country would (probably) survive Trump. It might even build the nation's character to have a real jackass in office after 8 years of a good guy.

I don't know how you can conclude that...she's down in almost every remaining key race.

Hunter S. Thompson is spinning in his grave.
This may be the year when we finally come face to face with ourselves; finally just lay back and say it — that we are really just a nation of 220 million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns, and no qualms at all about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.

On the bright side, in our new tea party utopia we will be spared years of stupid investigations, impeachments and partisan bickering.

"that said, suppose not."
With a Trump presidency, and the Senate & House in Republican hands?
Healthcare reform is gone. Anti-abortion legislation. Expanded military action around the world (if we survive).
This is a very, very bad picture, no matter how you look at it.

It's gonna be real tough to interact with other community members who I know voted this stupidity into office.
Gotta call you on that one. It's been really tough trying to deal with community members that have been SO obscenely strident about the "landslide," undeniable win for Hillary, and everybody who didn't agree was relentlessly called vile names and character-assassinated.
There has been precious little "discussion" on this very thread. It's been almost entirely libs calling everybody else stupid (using every imaginable turn of phrase to do so).
When you were sure of winning, you had NO desire to be civil. Those of us that didn't agree with the "slam dunk" nature of the goddess Hillary winning, well, many of us reached a point of just not posting here anymore. For me it's been few and far between for months. And from your "winning" perspective, you literally couldn't see how strident and relentless you were being.
Now that it's pretty clear that you guys were not just incorrect but spectacularly so, you have NO interest even now in learning something about how your mentality (and expressions of it) have been perceived nationwide. The lib agenda has been repudiated, and you seriously need to consider how your approach to "discussion" is perceived.
YOU made it "tough to interact," and now YOU'RE the "victim"? Sorry, that's just a bit too self-serving and "neat" in this particular context.
I, for one, WOULD have voted Democrat opposing Trump, but guys like you weren't building bridges. Hillary was a GODDESS, and anybody not buying that sickness was labeled an idiot.
Even now you don't see that you tried to sell a turd to America. Your PARTY sold you a turd, and you tried to browbeat others into calling it gold. Maybe now you can be honest about what your PARTY did to you, which was the point some of us were trying to make.
Many of you guys have some heartfelt apologizing to do, that is, IF you honestly do care about restoring community. If you still only care about saving face and painting some picture in which you are still right, then you have only yourselves to blame for the resulting lack of community.
Most of us, as a nation, I believe, want so badly to get beyond partisan politics and truly come to grips with what BOTH parties did to us in this election! Could we maybe start a genuinely civil conversation now about what went wrong in this cycle and seek to rectify it within the next four years, so that we don't have to endure Trump for eight???
