For the Trump voters, are you just running away from Hillary or are there some redeeming qualities in Trump that you are running toward:
 personality?
 character, ethics, etc.?
he's rich, so must be a good businessman, would be good at running government too?
 he's got great policies on _ ?
he's a "powerful" man that will make our adversaries quiver in their boots?
he's the Republican candidate, and that's all I need to know?

Our planet can't afford denial on climate or opposition to solutions. Hillary Clinton will work hard to solve the pressing issues we face.

Indeed, look who they nominated. Imelda Clinton

Yes, indeed. Someone with a checkered history, and yet still actually qualified to be President.

I know, weird, huh?

I think it is important that we recognize that there is a deep feeling of discontent in this country--also clear in Bernie Sanders supporters. There is a feeling--and a not totally incorrect one, that all is not going well for many individuals and for the country as a whole--and that it is likely to get worse---a real fear for the future.

Well, the middle class is shrinking, but it should also be recognized that much of the discontent is manufactured and spoon fed - particularly on the right and pretty much everything vile said about hillary on both the right and left.

Much of the reason for this is as a result of global socio-economic trends that are really beyond the ability of any politician or political party to totally control--though good ones can surely work to ameliorate the worst effects--the reason that Economics has been called "the dark science".

Efficient global transportation and the Internet have changed the world - we no longer move people to materials to make things - we now move materials to both cheaper labor and requisite skills. The world is being flattened and normalized relative to our middle class which, while it has gone down, other middle classes have come up elsewhere in the world. Bottom line is if you have the skill set of Guatemalan day laborer you're likely to get paid like one even if you live in Brooklyn. It's all about skills and whether we impart them to our youth.

...the alienation and anger will get worse...

The gop has used alienation, fear and hate as their dominant campaign strategy for sixty years. It created a monster which then turned on them while simultaneously lowering the effective IQ of the entire right. It is the only strategy they know so they are unlikely to stop using it regardless of the cost as can be seen in this year's election. The 2020 gop primaries will slither under an even lower bar of pandering and shame.

Someone with a checkered history, and yet still actually qualified to be President.

Qualified to keep the country headed in the exact same direction it's been going for years. That isn't a quality I value.

She is nothing more than a reinforcement that perhaps not necessarily our system is broken, but rather it's been hijacked by an elected class that is focused more on their own expansion and encroachment vs the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

When someone utters "there ought to be a law", they snap to attention.

EDIT: and many of you tards are happy to oblige them.

We believe that Trump has a 10% chance to win, but if he wins, that's evidence of a rigged system?

Probability theory? Random variable?

I think at kind of a deep-down level, we humans just don't really get math.

I remember a PhD scientist once told our sports team that the results of a recent study, logically, showed that sitting is bad for your health. Logically. Like if the study had disproved their hypothesis (their pre-existing belief that sitting is bad for our health), that wouldn't be logical. Logically. Like logically is how our beliefs really work.

And now we have Trump. Humans are in rough shape :-)

huh?

You have a set of 100 cards. Ninety cards have a photo of Clinton and ten have a picture of Trump. The election is determined by a neutral picker choosing one card from a randomized spread.

In this instance Trump would have a 10% chance of being the winner.

Could it be rigged. Sure, replace the 90 C cards with 90 T's before the pick

Germans felt thier system was broken when they brought in Hitler too.

Yes, our system needs some fixing. But trump has said absolutely nothing that would indicate he is going provide you life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. on the contrary, he has turned at all levels. do you honestly trust that guy with the nuclear codes? if the Filipino Prez says to trump what he has said to Obama I do not trust Trump to behave in anyones best interest than his own. but it could be entertaining.

Given that the original question is, "would a trump victory be evidence of a rigged election", what's the probability that a human will interpret a (IMHO, correct!) answer to the question "is it possible for an election to be rigged, and how might one do that?" as the correct answer to the original question?

Maybe as a restatement of my point, I would say pretty close to 100%! And I think that human illogicity of our beliefs (yours, mine , PhD Scientists, humans) contributes to trumps rise. For good or bad, our brains highest master is not logic.

If we have a ten sided die with 9 sides Clinton, and one side trump, and we roll it once, and it comes up trump, is that evidence that the die is rigged? What if the sides were 0-9, with one chance to come up 5, and 9' chances to not come up 5; and it comes up 5? Rigged?

IMHO, the belief that we form about it depends more on our pre-existing beliefs than on math or logic.

Brandon asked:

Does anyone here really think Trump is going to win?
If no, will it be a legit loss, or evidence of a rigged system?

If it's a rigged system, how will you choose to revolt and help make America great again?

Brandon: I don't think Trump will win, but I do believe he has been his own worst enemy in this election. His big-mouth & pugnacious ways, just keep alienating potential Trump voters.

So, I think his loss will be legit, but Trump &/or his more-crazy supporters might well claim the system is rigged against Trump.

Hopefully those folks will not be so crazed that they would resort to advocating violence to take the government for Trump, which is legally Treason.

America has a wonderful history of election-losers sucking it up, accepting their loss, and then working to keep America great, while sharpening their knives for the next election cycle.

I do remember, with great bitterness, the 2000 election, where Gore won the popular vote, but was screwed out of the Presidency by the Republican Supreme Court.

I have no memories of Democrats advocating overthrow of the government after that dismal result.

Hopefully, we can all calm down & go back to work on uniting America to keep it Great.

If Trump were to win in November, given the state of the world today, I would agree that some type of rigging occurred.

Trump just stated on the news that the polls are rigged.

Funny since this morning he said all the polls regarding the second debate had him winning.

Qualified to keep the country headed in the exact same direction it's been going for years. That isn't a quality I value.

Oh, you mean expanding economy, new record highs in the market, healthcare that can't be denied due to pre-existing conditions, millions of new jobs, protecting the environment and a livable planet for our kids?

Yeah, sounds awful. Vote Trump for restoring a world to a time when minorities knew their place, women worked in the home for free, pollution was unrestrained and advanced education was really only for the white elite!

As a working person you'd have to be gullible beyond words to believe trump gives a rat's ass about you and your life. He's made a career out of f*#king working people in every conceivable way. He doesn't pay you, he hires from abroad, he buys labor and material abroad, he fights unions at all of his hotels and casinos.

I mean it ultimately, and unfortunately, gets down to a question of just how stupid are you?

yep,

trump just wants to molest everyone. that is why i call anyone who supports him either deplorable or mentally incapacitated.

yesterday on NPR a woman trump supporter said that the women who may have been molested from him were instigating it and asking for it. tell me thats not deplorable.

i know this is a hard crowd. I voted for Romney in 2012 but did not have real strong feelings about it. Romney may not have ended up being as good as obama, i dont know, but this race is different. the current republican base is totally f*#king crazy to vote for a psychopath.

edit:

besides, its congress who needs to be cleaned out.
